Simple. I love the series. But more to the point? The ending of it. I gotta know how BioWare will top ME2's ending (I didn't think ME2 could top ME1's ending and boy was I wrong).

returning characters
more sidequests that actually build up a mystery in the rest of the story
better armor "sigh"

And to see what happens to all the characters.

Also, I'm anxious to see how the guys at BioWare intend to improve the (almost) always top-notch cinematics and the storytelling in general.
Frankly I can't imagine how they'll do that, but I guess they'll find some way to pull it off regardless

I personally cannot come up with a satisfactory way to stop an unstoppable fleet of destruction.

Another reason being that ME3 will most likely be an utterly amazing game.

My reason is because I want to see if bioware can live up to all the talk about this trilogy. If what you really do can have you decide the fate of the galaxy at the end of ME 3.
I'm curious to see how my actions effect the third game. and how different the third game can be based upon other decisions.

Seriously, anyone got any ideas? I sure as hell don't, so Bioware had better have a freaking good one.

Heres a nother question, what if bioware leads you hanging?..
Three words...
Burned...down...buildings.
I'm hoping they leave us hanging at least a little bit, so they can start a new ME story arc like 1,200 years later that still includes the Reapers (meaning everyone you knew from Shepard's story is long dead, even Asari and Krogan.)

Returning characters, the fate of Shepard and/or Shepard's love interest/homebro/hamster and the whole Reaper thing.

And I want to see how you defeat the Reapers. I've thought up a few different ways and all of them are garbage. The worst offenders: virus to rewrite them, hidden ancient gun/device to defeat them, kill the leader and all die, and a splinter group of Reapers will help us.
I personally cannot come up with a satisfactory way to stop an unstoppable fleet of destruction.
Just a thought, but, what if the end is simply "the end". Much like the beginning of "Firefly" at the Battle of Serenity. All this effort, blood, sweat and tears, then we look to the horizon and realize that we can not win. The ships keep coming and the cycle will continue.

Scrolling through the first replies, I found this one to be most accurate
Even if I see ME3 become some horrible mess in the pre-release, I will still buy ME3 for the sake of finishing the journey

Exactly.
That includes several reasons (that mostly have been mentioned here), like:
- Finishing the Story
- Complete my Shepards history
- returning characters
- The series is a good game

...depends on how it's handled but I think I'd be really disappointed.
