Would you rather have a character who is boring or one is annoying?

As far as entertainment goes, I rather have a character that is annoying then have a character who I find to be boring. In the above scenario, for some people like myself this became a case of picking between the annoying one(Ashley), and the boring one (Kaidan). I believe that the reason why many people left Kaidan to die on Virmire is not because they found him whiny, it is because they found him to be a very flat character (seriously he made a story about him killing his biotic instructor boring).
Lets take Jacob Taylor for example. Subjectively speaking, Jacob Taylor is the flat out worst character in ME2 and not in the good way. I believe that a character is a good character if they are loved/hated based upon their viewpoints, personalities, loyalities, goals, and what not. The reason why most people dislike Jacob (myself included) is because there is nothing to his character that sparks interest. This is my reason why I personally I can't stand him. Jack may annoy me at times but at least I find her interesting. Jacob does not spark any interest in me at all.
Once again restating, this is mainly my opinion, but I want to know. If you had to pick between an annoying character or a boring one who would you choose?

Boring is much more preferable to that.

A boring character that puts me to sleep is better than a character that makes me want to hurl my controller at the TV.

For a while I had Navi's "Hey!" as my phone's text message sound.
When you think about it, modern day phones are just like Fairies. They provide us with information against our enemies, they interrupt us when we don't want them to, etc.

I'd take an annoying character over a boring character any day of the week. Boring characters trigger the absolute worst response from people: apathy. I'd rather take a character that I can feel something about (even if that emotion is absolute dislike) over a character I feel nothing about. At least then if I am given the chance to kill said annoying character, I can feel good about it afterwards. Killing a boring character yields no response at all.
That is exactly what I was thinking. I am surprised that many people here so far prefer boring characters. Hating fictional characters can make the story more fun for you.

I see your point, but really annoying characters just make me want to not play the game any more, which is worse. Whenever there was a Hope section in FF13 I started noticing that the living room really needs vacuuming or that the dishes were piling up.Markinator_123 wrote...

I know what you mean. Hope was the only character I disliked, yet he was so useful.enormousmoonboots wrote...

for instance, Jacob is not really annoying, he's just very boring. he has very little character. however, ashley is very annoying, however she is by no means boring. she is a fairly deep ,well though out character. i would much prefer a well-made character who i personally dislike, rather than a cardboard cut-out who no one with a brain could actually like.

To each their own.
I think Xaijin's pretty much got the correct answer to all this in caps, though.
