I found out that you could go through mass effect 1 without recruitng garrus and i have a question. Did anyone go through mass effect 1 without recruiting garrus? and if so how did your conversation with him go in mass effect 2?

No, the conversation isn't that different. The only thing that changes is the introduction. That bothers me a lot, you talk to him as if you knew him. Shepard is nobody to Garrus. Why should he answer everything if he doesn't even know him/her. I always recruit Garrus in ME1 however I saw what happens in ME2 if you don't through youtube. Garrus is too awesome not to recruit.

Better question. Who the hell in their right mind would NOT recruit garrus or wrex?

Not recruiting Garrus in ME1 should cause the transfer to ME2 to become corrupted and fail, resulting in your PC/360 bursting into flames for you being f%$@ing moron for not Garrus in ME1.

Just like for every ME1 choice, the change is very minor

can anyone find a link to a video shepherd's reaction to garrus? do any other conversations change? i feel like that would be a big game changer considering how much of a history garrus and sheperd have if they worked together in mass effect 1

Here's your conversation.

That video makes me feel bad inside. Not recruiting Garrus should not allow you to romance him. Not recruiting him is like skipping ME1.

wow doesnt make that much of a difference they still act like they are old pals! thanks for the help everyone. Also, now that i think about it, what happens if you dont recruit wrex? does he still become the leader of tuchanka?

No, it's the same as if Ashley killed him

Not sure about that one. I'm thinking that he probably wouldn't be the leader. Instead he'd still be a merc. After all he says that it was thanks to Shepard that he wanted to unite the Krogan again. I don't know about it though, I haven't done it and if I did I would feel like I skipped ME1.

Thanks. it seems like the decisions dont really make that big of a difference in mass effect 2. The Wrex recruitment is probably more important seeing as if you keep him alive he becomes the leader of tuchanka, but if you miss recruiting Garrus you can get him anyway in mass effect 2 whereas you only have one shot to get Wrex in his position. We will see in ME3 i suppose!

That's another one.

I had no idea Ash could kill Wrex until I was in the ME2 savegame editor.

Actually, I can't stand the thought of not having both Garrus and Wrex around the whole time.

My friend at work got Wrex killed on Virmire, saying, "Eh, I killed him, I didn't really like him, anyway". I called him "Wrex-Killer" for a week and refused to talk to him.

Well even if you didn't recruit him, you still would have met him. You have to meet him on your first trip to meet the council.
