Hey guys, I was just wondering a few things about romance options in ME1 and 2:
1) if I romance characters from ME1, can I still romance characters in ME2? Does it hinder my ability to do this in ME2 at all?
2) Is it possible to romance more than one character in ME1 in the same game?
3) Is it possible to romance more than one character in ME2?
4) If you play a female character, can you still romance female characters, or does the game have some kind of ban on same-sex romance? (Not sure I just kinda think it does because of those threads about same-sex romance, but who knows, maybe thats just ME2 or maybe its just ME1?)
And concerning ME1 builds, what with all the changes in ME2 (and the possibility of not taking abilities with you and stuff), what should I do in ME1 to make my char as strong as possible for ME2? Are there certain skills you should take as you level up or something, and certain ones you should avoid? What stuff should you do to make your ME1 char as prepared as possible for ME2?
If you own ME1 on Steam, do you need to get ME2 on Steam as well in order to get your character from ME1 to transfer to your ME2 game? Does the character transfer between ME1 and ME2 work for Steam users just like it does for retail ME players?

1. If you romance a character in ME1, that won't prohibit you from romancing another in ME2.
2. It's not possible to romance more than one character. If you're stringing two of them along, they'll eventually ask you to choose.
3. I believe you can romance more than one character in ME2, but you have to break it off with one in order to start another.
4. In ME2, there is an option to flirt with a female which can be interpreted as a romance. And if you don't romance anyone else, I guess it becomes a romance at the end.
The biggest advantage you can transfer from ME1 to ME2 is your paragon/renegade points. This will open up persuasion checks immediately in ME2 and gives you a little leeway in making a couple paragon/renegade decisions that have caused problems for some.
Your decisions will transfer over to ME2 -- who you've killed, who you've saved. Obviously, the more missions you do, the more people you leave alive, the more references to these events you'll see/hear in ME2.
Can't answer your questions about Steam.

As to your steam question, I can't see any reason you can't transfer your saves as long as you can fight both your ME1 and ME2 save folders.
Just drag and drop the character profile saves over if all else fails.

So what about skill points, abilities/feats or whatever they're called, weapons, armor, guns, etc? Do all of these things transfer? If I level up Shepard to a higher level, do his abilities transfer to the ME2 character? (So do I have an interest in completing as many side missions as possible to level him up nicely and that sort of thing, and acquire lots of skill in weapon use like shotgun skill, assault rifle skill, pistol skill, spectre skills, soldier skills, etc?)

So you want to do lots of side quests? Do you get to keep your XP you gained so your character is physically stronger for ME2 then, like he'd be better with sniper rifles, pistols, shotguns, etc? And have more levels of spectre, soldier, and other non-weapon skills?

Nope, none of your skills/biotic abilities transfer over, same goes for minerals mission/weapons/armor/etc,. I do know that if you transfer a higher level char 50-60 you will start off with more minerals, more exp (so you start off at a higher level to begin with rather than lvl 1), more money, to name the ones off the top of my head. What transfers over is your characters choices during the ME 1, i know that if you were 100% paragon/renegade.
But for the complete listing however, go here; http://masseffect.wi...e_File_Transfer

If you romance someone in ME1 but romance someone else in ME2, in ME3 your first romance will falter, because in ME2 you can see the pic of the past romance on the desk in your cabin, but if you romance someone in ME2 while having a relationship in ME1, then during the romance scene in ME2, you will see the pic laying face down on the desk.
