I'm in the process of creating a fixpack for Origins.  I found that a variable set was missing that, if added, allowed you to actually turn Godwin in to Greagoir during the "Precious Metals" quest, instead of just threatening Godwin.  I've dealt with all the issues except one:  when you tell Greagoir about it, he says he's going off to find Godwin, dialogue ends, and then instantly restarts.  It looks odd and even the comments in the dialogue say "Fade out" after he says he's going to leave, but no fade actually happens.  I would really like to fix this before restoring this bit of lost content.

1)  Is there any way to create the fade effect in a script triggered by a variable setting?  If so, I'd *much* prefer to do it that way.

2)  If not, ugh, I guess that means I'll have to learn to create a dedicated cutscene to fix it.  All it needs to do is deliver the spoken line he is speaking already, and then fade out.  Any simple way to handle this? I've managed to avoid needing to do any cutscene work so far.  I'm honestly a bit confused on how to go about it.  I've been looking at the cutscenes that create the fade out in Nancine's dialogue for reference (she's in the Wonders of Thedas, the second target in Crime Wave, and dialogue fades out after you get her out of her armor),

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I figured out enough to do "Convert line to cutscene" (not sure what I was doing wrong, but that option was grayed out for a while, got it working now though). Still not sure how to actually add a fade event to it though. Feeling kinda dumb here, heh, sorry for the noob questions.

Never mind, worked it all out. Thanks and sorry to anyone whose time I wasted reading this.

Please post details on how you solved it so that others with the same problem can find an answer here. Thanks.

I'm still way too noob at this to be trying to teach anyone, I'm afraid. I'm still confused by the subject every few seconds, and I think I only solved the initial problem by pure luck.

The luck was that Greagoir's dialogue in that line was already "staged", so I was able to just "convert line to cutscene" and then add a track with a fadeout. Now I need to add a fade to a line where there *is* no attached stage or cinematic, and so I can't "convert line to cutscene". And without that, I have *no* idea what to do. Oh well.

Oh, and to make matters worse, the dialogue in question is with the waitresses in the Gnawed Noble Tavern in Denerim, who have ambient properties that have them move all over the bar. So, I don't think I *can* stage them, so I don't think it's possible to have a fade effect at all. Or any cutscene for that matter. Which is problematic for me in trying to fix the "Steal the Teyrn's Crown" quest, but I'm seeing what I can do with scripting.
