The Box-Art and character trailers aren't designed to sell to anyone posting here, or anyone who played the first game in general. It was all designed to try and appeal to the Halo/COD/Gears crowd that respond to explosions and big guns and simplistic and straight-forward dialogue and characterization. Also playing up the main theme of the game: loyalty.

Plus the fact that BW was obsessed with trying to keep the identities of the returning squad members a secret (a poorly kept one at that) for as long as possible.

Nope, ME3 box art will have the space hampster, Blasto and Shep with a speech bubble saying "Because it's a big, stupid jellyfish!"

Hey, it worked for me, kept me in the dark until those parts of the game.
But I also avoided all possible previews and spoilers. And I plan to do the same for ME3.
Which is going to be really hard while on this thread. . .
