Jack is very polarizing. That's the thing. A lot of the time, it's either you dislike her/neutral, or you love her. I wouldn't be surprised if other male LIs that were not Jack had more "dislike, but not hate" votes.NuclearBuddha wrote...
Sure, but other LIs get plenty of hate. Like Ashley or Miranda. I was interested to see Ash's negatives. They were higher than Miranda's.Collider wrote...
Jack is not for everyone. Given her nature, I am not surprised.

On the asari - it is hinted at, if not outright stated that we do not actually know what they look like. Listen to the bachelor party. They each see the same asari as a blue skinned member of their own species. This brings up an interesting point.
The POV of the game is as Shepard. Shepard is human. Ergo, Shepard sees asari as mostly human looking.
We do not actually know what the Asari look like. Probably Some sort of eldritch abomnation, judging from the tentacle heads.
I never really bought into that theory personally. Seems more likely that each alien is just instinctually attracted to a certain part of the asari. Turians find head fringes attractive, so they don't pay any attention to the breasts or bodies or whatever, and look at the tentacle heads. As humans, we just see that as a hair analogue and move on, its not worth noting when talking about asari being attractive.
That does bring up how the asari evolved to be attractive to races lightyears away from them though. Which does give some credence to the theory that they could be something more.

Really, most of the hate Tali gets on this forum is just a knee-jerk reaction to her popularity.NuclearBuddha wrote...
I expected Tali to be a bit more polarizing, which suggests that a reasonable number of people weren't just voting down. Her negatives are really quite low.

Hmmm I like Zaeed personally. I had a DLC only Play through with Him and Kasumi when Kasumi came out.
Tali and Garrus tops for most of the positive listings.
Hell of a shot!
That's goddamn suicide!

Tali and Garrus "Love" count both far out way the other votes, they seem to be the only characters who have this.

I like to think this is because of the rather civil nature of Talimancers.

The source of the hate still could equal a hate vote. Heck, I'm glad people were honest or whatever. I just expected a more polarized response.Collider wrote...

I would actually theorize that that is the reason for a lot of the Jack hate as well. She seems to be liked here a lot more than other places I've seen. More casual people around the internet seem more likely to just be turned off by the initial abrasive nature and move on, where as people here tend to look a little deeper.

Well the internet is hardly the general population. I expect that Liara or Miranda are the most popular among the more casual audiences (or those who do not really post on game message boards) that probably make up the bulk of Mass Effect players.NuclearBuddha wrote...
