I can't really begin to parse the argument. It's as if being able to romance an alien is an affront or something, because the aliens aren't googly-eyed monsters with 16 quadruple-jointed manipulators who cannot even be comprehended by weak human minds. It should be unpossible.Azint wrote...

"Bestiality" refers to an animal. Would a sapient alien race constitute as an animal or any sort of lesser being? The latter I actually have heard, and that stems from xenophobia.Collider wrote...
It is technically bestiality due to it being cross-species, but using it to describe the relationship is disingenuous.
...Which could be their case.
The whole argument of their being no aliens out their, that look like us, walk like us, etc. is ignorant. They cannot prove it, just as much as we can prove it. Well, actually, we can argue with probability.RiptideX1090 wrote...

A quick look at the definition of bestiality sometimes says species, not animal specifically (which I imagine is what this certain person is justifying his or her condemnation with). (also, I maintain that humans are animals). However, the reason I believe it is disingenuous is because we have not met a sapient species that are not humans, yet (if ever).
Really striving to be an **** aren't you Nuke? Maybehaps I misspoke using the term hypotheticals. You are assuming they are drunk - which I do not recall as being established in the game - as the basis to invalidate a discussion. In short:NuclearBuddha wrote...
So hypotheticals are off limits? Excellent. Then the in-game discussion of a hypothetical reason for asari attractiveness you're using as proof can be voided. Where were we?uhdnrt wrote...

Your interpretation of it is just as valid as mine - please stop reaching at hypotheticals to "prove" your argument.
Semantics, Collider.
You do understand what I was trying to say. I see it more as racism than anything else in this context. And "bestiality" is a strong word that will incite emotional responses, take for instance the point of the discussion.

500 billion + stars in this galaxy alone, not even counting the other galaxy's with just as many and even MORE stars. The possibilities are nearly endless, so to think that all aliens are giant squids with ten arms and fifty eyes is, like I said, ignorant.
But what proof do we have on our side though besides the possibilities?
Well, look in the mirror. We exist.

I gotta say, the first time the xenophilia=bestiality thing got brought to court in the ME setting (and you know some hater would try) I think it would
a. get laughed out of court
b. quickly get hushed up to avoid an interstellar incident.
It doesn't really meet any of the "unable to give consent" parameters that most of those laws end up resting on.
Good point. I think that popular culture has already accepted the idea to a certain extent. Certainly more than it accepts (that is to say, not at all) actual bestiality.SpatFieya wrote...

I would imagine that was taken care of relatively early in the whole process of meeting other races personally. As soon as the asari and salarians (or whoever was first,) met each other, they would need to work out a lot of things along those lines. And with asari likely being the trend setter, I have a hard time seeing anything other than a very open arms policy being implemented.

BUT, luckily for us, the possibilities are on our side. We've already started observing other planets outside our solar system. Their big planets, gas giants because we're just started doing it, later (actually fairly soon) we'll be able to observe smaller planets, much like our own in size. We can tell what type of atmosphere it's made of, something to do with how the planets stars light bounces off it or something. Won't get into it now.
If we don't blow our selves up... The future is starting to look very promising.
Also, look up Fusion tech. That's gonna be our stepping stone.
