I actually came up with an idea. Not sure how it will fly but here's the jist.

Ok, we know that virus here on earth reproduce by inserting thier own RNA into our DNA strands to hijack the cell functions and make them create little copies of themselves. What if you took the virus from omega (as it can transfer between Dextro and Human DNA) and 'reprogram' it so that instead of inserting its own DNA, it can "translate" from one DNA type to another. This could be used to safly transfer DNA accross species.
Now say that Shepard and Tali used this to get her pregnant. Thier child, while having full quarian DNA (has to be the DNA of the mother for fetal development) would carry Shepards personal traits.

Just a thought.

interesting...but I really don't like the idea of taking an interspecies death plauge and turning it into an inter species fertility drug, still I could imagine something similar.

It's actually not that far-fetched. All those geneticly modified animals (like the goats that make spider silk) and plants (the plants that can glow in the dark like a fire fly), had thier DNA modified by using an engineered virus that introduced the DNA containing the desired trait from another known species that already had that ability.

I know I freakin love that we can actually do stuff like this Im just concerned that taking something that was specifically designed to kill would offer more complications and risk, *in Mordins voice* hmm requires more tests

Thats why we have Mordin. He'll find a way to make it work. Change the functions of the virus, and it can become completely harmless.
