Technically, I got this and Turian ally at the same time, but Quarian Ally popped up on my screen first.Azint wrote...

I've subsided with Gears of War 2 instead.
No, Asari Ally was difficult to get. It took me two tries to do it.NuclearBuddha wrote...

That's fine. I love a good surprise as much as the next person. But don't hold back from seeking help if you feel like you need it.solazz wrote...
Hmm, there's a lot that makes me d'aawww now that I think about it. It's definitely going to be Tali related. I don't want to give away the whole plot I'm thinking of, though! Thanks for the tips. I think I'm going to keep my first one fairly short. Maybe if I like it enough, I can use it as a base for a series of fics. But I'm getting ahead of myself. It'll probably be awhile before I get this done, what with college and all that jazz.
Also, I know you didn't create the "hero they need" thing, that's from The Dark Knight. But you are the most frequent user of it around here.

I would be careful about jumping onto an episodic story right out of the gate. I still haven't finished mine.
Yeah, that's why I am trying to not get ahead of myself. No solid plans as of yet, but it's slowly coming together in my head. I'd hate to start a big storyline only to never finish it or feel like it's becoming tedious because I'm on part XXVIII.RedTracer7 wrote...

True, but the two share the requirement that you hold off on side-quests until you get the right squaddie.Azint wrote...

Episodics can be rewarding but are also a pain at times. If you do try this, I would suggest finishing before posting anything, just incase the coarse changes. This way you're not caged by anything you've written so far and are free to change things that contradict. Had to do that a few times with Drifting.
Found that I prefer the short story, myself, but to each his own.
Hey, welcome back. Long time, no see.LuckyIronAxe wrote...
I got Quarian Ally on my first playthrough as well, I'm sort of a completionist. Well, Tali thread it's been a while, feels good to be back.

I've found that a couple things keep me going when I don't feel so much like writing: 1. Schedule. I used to force myself to write at least a paragraph every night. Now I just give myself deadlines (Wed and Sat for CotEM). 2. Promises. If you tell other people about what you're doing, it's more motivation to finish since you probably don't want to let them down.
OH, hey, this brings up a good point. Don't hold yourself to chronology unless you absolutely have to. Probably the only reason I'm still writing here today is because I just wrote stuff for Unseen as the ideas came to me. If I'd tried to start at the beginning, I'd never have gotten anywhere.solazz wrote...

I ened up getting it at the end of Virmire, along with Krogan Ally. This was my final planet before Ilos, so I ended up skirting for it. Turian Ally was surprisingly easy.NuclearBuddha wrote...

I have to place my support with the 'Episodic' style. I really think thats just my ADVERTISE-LIKE-A-BIGDOG mindset at work.
Self-loathing remains an enemy of mine. On the other hand, there are benefits to being your own worst critic. That way it feels like everyone else has nothing but nice things to say.cannedcream wrote...
Also, NEVER listen to the doubtful voices in your head. The ones that say you should stop and no one is going to like what you're working on. They are jackasses and are to be ignored.

Yeah, otherwise you'll end up like Rune, and destroy all your work at regular intervals.Runescapeguy9 wrote...
