Also, NEVER listen to the doubtful voices in your head. The ones that say you should stop and no one is going to like what you're working on. They are jackasses and are to be ignored.

Self-loathing remains an enemy of mine.  On the other hand, there are benefits to being your own worst critic.  That way it feels like everyone else has nothing but nice things to say.

I've gone overbaord with that too many times. I ended up giving up on projects because I felt that they were lost causes and had to be purged.

'Hope for the best, but expect the worst'?
I see what you're saying. The trick is not not give in to those thoughts and let them stop you from working, I suppose. My god, the number of times I've almost trashed my stories is beyond count.

Yeah, otherwise you'll end up like Rune, and destroy all your work at regular intervals.

Three for a few hundred making it to the internet isn't too bad.
... Right?

I felt like I hadn't taken a shot at you in a while day or two, so...

(LOL)

I've had a craving to play this game again, but my anti-fratboy nature compels me to put it back when I do look.

I've subsided with Gears of War 2 instead.

This site is addictive for a reason.

There's a great mesh of personalities here that make this thread by far the best place I've seen on the internet.

What CC says is the important point.  You can listen to the self-recrimination all you want, but you have to ignore the "it's not fit to be seen" part that inevitably comes up.

Fake edit:  And you know, what you just asaid above is the theme I recall you sounding the first time I saw you here.

Thanks for all the help and tips everyone.

I looked back and saw Jones' suggestion of "Amazonian Tali". I don't think I'll do exactly what was in his suggestion, but it does seem like an interesting starting point. I can already see the setting in my head, the opening events unfolding. Now all I have to do is put it all into words. Preferably in a sequence similar to proper English.

Yet, with all it's faults, it's still one of the most welcoming and loving threads on the forums.

I try to get over that by telling my other half that I should just do it. Do it and snub the pessimism, prove to myself.

Well, I suppose I've come full-circle.

My earliest memory of you is when you established yourself as an animu anime fan to a troll. He made some imbecilic comment about how Talimancers never get laid, then you mentioned you're a father.

I lol'd.

Edit: "asaid?"

I used to play that game so much in elementary school.  I think managed to finish it two times... out of about a hundred.

I think I'm going to turn in early tonight.  But before I go, there is a small matter that I feel you be addressed.

The poll section has an important question that needs our attention.

The words are all there, my friend. You just need to find what order they go in.

Like anything, the more you write, the better you'll get. Also, you'll find things are much easier after you find your 'voice'.
The way I write is different from Nuke, which is different from Red, which is different from Jones, and so on and so forth. Your style will probably be different too.
