Hey guys, I have a question regarding the Flotilla. I'm writing a chapter where one of my characters is going to have her back-story expanded upon, and I want her to have some dead-beat father who she feels obligated to make up for, hence her extremely serious/dedicated/zealotistic work ethic. Now, I don't want her father to have been exiled, since Tali said in ME2 that its been awhile since someone was exiled. I remember it being mentioned in either a game or a book that the Flotilla will sometimes "forget" the more dead-weight members of their crew on planets they passed, would using this be kosher?

Hmmm...

Seems a bit harsh, but I think it could be plausible, seeing as in ME1 the pilgrimmage is said to be a way to show that a Quarian will contribute to the community and not simply be a burden upon its resources.

Yes, it is harsh, but I'm kind of going for that. Tali worked so hard at what she did because her father was an Admiral and she wanted his respect, Regala is working so hard at what she does because she feels like she has to serve the Flotilla twice, once for her father and once for herself.

Then personally I'd go for it. Forget the dead-weight!

i remember the first time i overheard that conversation i stopped to listen and as she got to "let me turn it on" i got all interested and then she said something along the lines of "this is a private conversation"
so i reloaded a save and started listening to the convo again from 20 feet away and she says the same thing again. needless to say i was pissed :pinched:

I think she was joking. I mean, it'd be like if some random girl started to use a vibrator in public. Not so discrete.

But, what do I know about quarians and how they behave among other people? Image IPB

She can just turn off the external speaker....then it just looks like she's having a seizure or something.

I still can't help but be reminded of that one discussion we had eons ago regarding Legion hacking said stimulators and keeping them going for 2 weeks, 'twas funny.

I could see Joker convincing Legion it'll "improve Geth-Creator relations" or something along those lines.

This.  I hesitate to give everything ritual significance.  Having a knife on your leg can be very useful thing when you're sent out alone into a world that doesn't have a high opinion of you.

ok but we've never seen her USE it in combat scenarios in game or cutscene
my fanfic will attempt to give it a backstory and maybe explain why never uses it/carries it
its my first try and seemed like a good idea

If she used the knife for combat as well, wouldn't it be more practical if she had it somewhere on her upper body? Easier to reach, you know.

Go for it.  Everyone has their own take on certain inadequately explained bits of quarian culture.

It wouldn't be something for the average fight.  It's a last resort-type-thing.  Its usefulness as a tool is probably of more everyday importance.

It really just depends It's safer to have it conceled in a boot than openly on your waist.

Most of her suit seems to be 'soft'. The shin guards seem the only logical place to mount a permanent sheath.

And it would be a shame to break up dat silhouette by mounting it point-up on her chest or something.

So very true.

It's a tool and weapon of last resort. And considering there is next to no real melee combat in ME, wasn't worth coding something in to let her use it.
