The thing is is that Mission was 14 years old. So even though I thought she was sort of cute she was in the danger zone, so she was definitely a little sister type in my opinion.

Tali on the other hand is a definite young woman, even though she is a bit unworldly in some ways in the first game. In the second game there is no way you can argue that she's anything other then an adult with adult responsibilities.

Well like I said, I think of Tali as a maturing adult, she is still young, but she is learning. Tali comes off as much more mature in ME2 than in ME1, but she still is young. -redundant statement-

What I do find strange are the fans who go; "Tali was an adorable little sister in ME1, and I lover her for that. Romance in ME2? YEAH!"

So you would jump at the oppurtunity to romance your little sister?

That is weird.

I think you are getting a bit caught up in semantics, here. Obviously Tali is not Shepard's little sister in the game. If people have referred to Tali as a little sister type I think they are more likely describing how she's sort of like a childhood friend type. Sort of not an immediate attraction but something that developes after they know each other for awhile. Well, it developes on Shepards side, at least. Tali was into him from the start.

I feel like Cerberus network already shows how Bioware wants to give back to the people who buy their games (buy it new, not used).  Having new weapons and armor is always nice, I must say.  I had no problems with the Firewalker, it was a free DLC with different gameplay mechanics.  It was a new feel, and I welcomed it.  Kasumi's DLC was pretty amazing.  Bioware could definitely pull off DLC with the cast and crew, but I am keeping in mind that they're already working on multiple games and might not have time for major DLC packs.
Maybe with a preorder for Mass Effect 3 you can get an exclusive Mass Effect 2 mission that ties into Mass Effect 3 and will have consequences.  And that mission will be released the first month of 3's release, free of charge.  Preordering means you wouldn't have to wait a few days, get the Mass Effect 2 DLC and go back into Mass Effect 2 having already started 3.

Now you're thinking on a marketing-scale. So far, all the free DLC has been nice, I actually liked Firewalker, too, it cost me nothing but the download time. The only DLC we have had to pay for was 'Stolen Memories' which I also really enjoyed, I felt the price was worth it, the Alt Appearance pack however is something I can wait on. If they do this romance pack, it will most definetly be a paid DLC, but with all that it may be granting, it will sell well, just look at the demand. But about the pre-ordering bonuses, I think it should only apply for ME3 and not content for ME2, because for one; there is no guarantee how early it would be, and because people will fight for it.

Right now all we can do is talk about Tali (yay!) and wait on Bioware to talk about their next DLC.  The funny thing is that Mass Effect 2 only came out less than 3 months ago and it probably has more DLC than any other Bioware game.

Did they say anything about the romance pack or is that just speculation?

Just something to think about, What is going to happen to Tali, I mean they cannnot make her an important role in the next game due to the fact that some people had her die, so she can't have a MAIN story role. I just hope this doesn't mess it up for us though. I image in ME3 finding a quarian homeworld and having a house with Tali? LOL THAT"BE AWESOME>

Why can't she have a main-story role? If people got her killed, or anyone killed for that matter, the game should be harder for them.

For example: Not having access to the Fleet for the Reaper fight if Tali died, not having access to the STG if Mordin died... etc.

See what I'm sayin'?

You can make her have just as important of a role as she had in ME2.  I assume the quarian conflict will involve reclaiming their homeworld.  Without Tali, you can still accomplish this, but the interaction with the admirals and quarians in general won't go as well, and you may face extra resistance.

Thats pretty in line with what I would expect.  Losing any character will hurt dialogue, but the missions will be set up so that they don't rely on the related character to be completed.

You don't need to worry about that. Think back to ME1.

Which squad member had an important role in ME1? None of them did, with a couple very minor exceptions: Tali, giving you the evidence, and Liara, revealing Ilos. Garrus, Ashley, Kaiden, Wrex... none of them had large roles in ME1 at all, aside from like where you first meet them or a decision you had to make.

What I'm getting at, is that the squad members will be "interchangeable" to whatever is going on in ME3, just like they were in ME1 (I'm assuming ME3 will be more "main story"-centric, unlike ME2, which is why I use ME1 as an example).

I gotcha, I just assumed that she couldn't have a role in importance during the game if she wasn't in for some, but I see what you mean about importance being interchangable per character..well in that case I guess she'll be the most important character in the game. ( Not that she isn't already ;) )

Personally I cant stand her and every game I do, I do everything in my power to make sure she has as little power as possible.

By the time Bioware releases the first trailer for Mass Effect 3, we'll have reached version 100 of this thread.  Especially at this rate.

I think you are getting a bit caught up in semantics, here. Obviously Tali is not Shepard's little sister in the game. They didn't grow up together so they don't have any of the baggage that would come with such a situation, like the westermarck effect. If people have referred to Tali as a little sister type I think they are more likely describing how she's sort of like a childhood friend type. Sort of not an immediate attraction but something that developes after they know each other for awhile. Well, it developes on Shepards side, at least. Tali was into him from the start.

Well there is a difference between the 'little sister' and 'childhood friend' archetype. The "little sister" is the character who asks you for help and looks up to you while caring you in a platonic way. Tali holds true to that to the extent that she considers you a very good freind before the romance, the "little sister" is quite bubbly and carefree about the relationship. Tali along with Garrus fit the "childhood friend" more because they have a history with you the player, you know them well and when you meet them again, that freindship has taken a new level. Playing male, Tali has developed feelings for Shepard, Garrus is in what you may call a "bromance". Playing female, the roles are somewhat reversed.
