I'm curious as to why you view ME2 Tali as such Arcian
Personal preferences, definitely.
Mainly, I think it was pretty OOC for her to admit having had a crush on Shepard since the events in ME1 when there was no evidence to support this in the first game. I.e, it was poorly handled. Of course, this was just BioWare trying to shut the fans up.
In my opinion, the best "romantic" relationships play like opposite-gender BFF-friendships that take years to develop. First of all, Tali and Shepard haven't really known each other that long. Maybe, what, one month in ME1? And another month in ME2? Not uncommon in fiction, but then again, there aren't very many fictive relationships that are impressive. The best I've seen was perhaps Adama-Roslin in BSG. Now that was a good and believable romance, and it took 4 seasons = 3 in-universe years to come to fruitition.
And secondly, Tali jumped from romantically oblivious to a crazy-eager, lovesick fool in the space of one timeskip, during which Shepard was inconveniently dead - barring any kind of friendship development between them until the next time they met. It seems a little bit jarring - but then again, BioWare just decided to pander to your demands and didn't care about the details.
It also pisses me off that you treat her solely like a romance character when the only reason she
is, is because you b*tched and moaned about it for the 2 years ME2 was in development. Everything you do here is discuss romance, or how juicy her hips are, or post the same frakking pics over and over again.
Take fanfics as another example; how many fics are there where Tali
isn't romantically linked to someone and having said romance as the prime focus? Next to none. Originality tends to be a little thin after the Nth fic, too.
This is all just madness. If you're so gorram lovesick, go out and meet somebody and stop defiling Tali's character.
TL;DR - Talimancers like the romance and therefore they suck.
