All the romances are fast-paced as well, but you are right, nothing in ME1 gave an indication of Tali having a crush. She wasn't nervous or anything, she was friendly like a Quarian on Pilgrimage receiving help. If she had a crush, she'd be stammering and wringing her hands when you talked to her.

Fanservice or not, there's no reason Tali couldn't have grown a strong bond with you over the course of a month (remember, we're keeping in mind the timescale of Mass Effect, you searched for Saren for what, 3 months? It felt like a week, if that), so considering how fast everyone else trusts you in Mass Effect, Tali developing into a LI in ME2 much like Garrus was a pleasant change. It's good for the story.

I respect your opinion of "some" of the fan base's obsession. Sometimes things need to be at the end of line (I won't go down the list, but fapfics is right up there somewhere), and I also feel disconcerted at the simple Talimancers who I think seriously only like "dem hips" and only post "dem hips" and need real life help. I am attached to the Quarians and the Geth and everything in Mass Effect, and Tali and Jack are the only romances I can tolerate, because for all the plot holes that you pointed out, she is a good romance.

And there are plenty of sophisticated people that get into long discussions of Quarian biology, history, and culture, this is the main appeal of Mass Effect, Tali included.  I can appreciate curves when I see them, but that's not why I'm here.

Just don't generalize, ya know? I wasn't around when Tali Love was here, I found the romance realistic.

Alright, so I guess it's a common complaint that people who like Tali complained and got what they wanted and this is considered horrible. I don't see the problem? I don't think that good folks at Bioware would have completely discarded their artistic vision of the game just to please "whiny Talimancers". They heard a vocal section of the fanbase and how much they liked a character, said to themselves, "Huh, so that's what they like? Yeah, that could work in the story." and then they put it in. No big deal.

You complain about the romance feeling rushed and sudden, but when you think about it, all of the romances in ME1 & 2 feel rushed. Any complaint of a romance being rushed applies to all romances in the ME universe, its just the nature of the game. The same thing happens in movies, books, tv shows, etc all the time. As for the timeline that they court each other, that's all speculation. You say a month, but it could have been three, maybe even more. Saying that it was only a month in each game just serves to try and make your point seem stronger through subjective speculation. As for Tali's jump from normal to "lovesick fool", death is a funny thing. People tend to experience things like regret, an example being "I regret not expressing my unspoken feelings for Shepard before he died".

Maybe Bioware already just know what we want and create it years in advance... Then release it when they think they could make the most money off of us! =O

Something just occurred to me:



I don't like the quarians.



If Shepard doesn't intervene they exile Tali. Tali! Probably one of the most dedicated members of the fleet!



The real kicker is that the rest of the quarians allow this, and entire fleet and an outsider is the only one willing to stand up for her.
