All the romances are fast-paced as well, but you are right, nothing in ME1 gave an indication of Tali having a crush. She wasn't nervous or anything, she was friendly like a Quarian on Pilgrimage receiving help. If she had a crush, she'd be stammering and wringing her hands when you talked to her.

That's not necessarily true. A lot of the stuff she talked about in the first game was technical stuff. That may have given her a sort of emotional comfort zone that allowed her to talk to her crush without nerding out and blabbering. That was just my personal interpretation though. I figured Tali was the type that could talk about ships just fine, but couldn't work up the nerve to hand Shepard a note that had a "Do you like me? Check yes or no" on it, or whatever it is that girls on their pilgramage do.

Something just occurred to me:

I don't like the quarians.

If Shepard doesn't intervene they exile Tali. Tali! Probably one of the most dedicated members of the fleet!

The real kicker is that the rest of the quarians allow this, and entire fleet and an outsider is the only one willing to stand up for her.

The point is that they need Shepard to convice them to stand up for her, and even then only two people speak out for her.

I half-heartedly defend the common quarain here.  Trials for treason rarely happen in the flotilla, so clearly I'm thinking if the admiralty are doing this, they have decent if not irrefutable evidence.  Geth have taken over the Alarei and killed everyone on board.  Tali left her posting in the fleet to assist a human (ex)Spectre that is currently aligmed with Cerberus.  None of these things endear me to her case for aqquital.  Not to mention that I would probably be afraid to shout down the admiralty board which could lead to a lot of backlash from my peers and captain.

Yeah I know, I even said the admirals were using the trial to support their views. My point is, the entire quarian people can't be blamed if Tali is exiled, it's the admirals who are at fault. And they can't really be argued with, because no one knows exactly what happened on the Alarei, if the evidence is kept secret. 

Alright, also, ive never gone with her loyalty mission without using paragon or renegade to help with evidence, is she exiled if you dont? Or do you show them Tali's fathers disc, discracing him and they dismiss charges against her and blame her father?

If you don't use the paragon/renegade and with hold the evidence she is exiled.

If you hand over the evidence she isn't exiled, but she hates you and you don't gain her loyalty.

In the end, get over it, the people here like Tali, the same as people like Garrus and Mordin and Miranda and other ME2 characters, it just so happens to be that Tali is quite possibly one of the most popular characters IN Mass Effect, if you're gonna get butthurt over it, that's your problem but don't come on here spouting mindless drivel without getting your damn facts straight.

Well said. I never thought Tali showed any kind of "crush" type emotions in ME1, she wasn't nervous or anything like in ME2 when she clearly had feelings. But "feelings for" like you put it, after giving her the Geth Data, makes more sense than "young girl with a crush".

And I'm pretty sure it was 2 months in between the end of ME1 and the Normandy's destruction, so a total of 5 months spent together.

Yeah, if you don't show them the evidence she gets exiled. 

You should see it on Youtube... it's really a very dramatic, well done scene with a lot of suspense.

When the admirals cast their vote, Xen does so immediately. Gerrel then follows. And Koris just kinda stares at Tali for a while, before finally typing into his omni-tool.

It's extremely sad. There was one nice line though. Raan asks if she would like to request any personal positions from the fleet, and Tali responds "No admiral, thank you. I have everything I need here"

Alright, so I guess it's a common complaint that people who like Tali complained and got what they wanted and this is considered horrible. I don't see the problem? I don't think that good folks at Bioware would have completely discarded their artistic vision of the game just to please "whiny Talimancers". They heard a vocal section of the fanbase and how much they liked a character, said to themselves, "Huh, so that's what they like? Yeah, that could work in the story." and then they put it in. No big deal.

To be fair, I think the whole fans changing their minds about making Tali an LI from ME1 to ME2 may just be a load of crap.  It seems more likely to me that they were planning on making her an LI in ME1, but her situation (not being able to be out of the suit without dying,) didn't leave her open to the same relationship as Liara and Ash.  Where you talk with them twice and then have sex.

In ME2, they now have a more developed relationship, and Tali's strong feelings are not only explainable, they make sense.  I'm inclined to believe they would have followed the same path even if Tali wasn't as popular.  They just get more points with their fans if they look like they're factoring in their opinions.
