There are better reasons to use these GIFs on the front page!

I got an actual webhost with like an infinite amount of bandwidth, the GIFs play at a propery speed in non-Firefox browsers, etc.

I'm aware, I had to use my advanced internet-fu to stop the loading and advance pages before I became another statistic.  Others may not have been so lucky
