I doubt it's very bad for her.

For the sake of argument, let's pretend the suit weighs 40lbs.

Now, since that weight is distributed all along her body, it's basically the equivalent of a her simply being 40lbs overweight. She wouldn't really "notice" the weight.

I'd guestimate that with her suit, Tali weighs like 140-170 lbs (I'm assuming 20lbs minimum for the suit, though very likely more). Seeing as Shep's handled that 86lbs sniper rifle with one arm, he should have zero problem at all. B)

That's a reasonable guess.  She's reasonably tall (at least compared to Shep), but a fair amount of her is quite thin.  Aside from the hip region, of course.

170 too much. Suit weighs likely 15-20 pounds, Tali likely between 110-130.

Well, we have no idea of knowing really. I'd guess the suit is pretty heavy though, for a few factors:
  • It appears to be made of a reasonably heavy material, which of course makes sense
  • The fabric that adorns the suit is also pretty thick.
  • Her helmet would probably be relatively heavy. All metal and probably has multiple life support systems.
  • Life support systems on the suit. The suits are super advanced and perform a ton of functions, all that stuff requires some form of machinery.
  • Metal parts. Her "boots" for example, are all metal, going up nearly to her knees.
  • Tons of belts and straps and pockets everywhere. That's just more material to add more weight.
There's no way all that stuff would weigh less than 20lbs--I'd say 30lbs would be the minimum, going up to maybe 50-60ish.

Then she must be aching to get that suit off. If she's still here, ask her. Tali? How much does your suit weigh?

I'm thinking that Grunt's "Quarians.... not so much" may partly refer to muscle density.  They probably have denser muscle compared to humans in order to have comparable physical strength and also be so slight in build, and denser muscle means 'harder to stab'.

And remember... Quarians = masters of the technical.  They probably have that suit streamlined for weight since they have it on all the time.  And because of that, they probably are used to the weight of the suit and are quite fit from lugging it around all the time.

Or maybe they're big freaking insects under there. Shepard got freaky with a Thri-Kreen.

Tali also moves with ease, Sergio. This is the future, afterall, all that equipment doesn't weigh nearly as much as you would think. The suit probably enhances her strength with mass effect fields, so it's a pretty blurry area of discussion.

Besides the suit, Tali is tall just like everyone else, probably 5'9, that distributes the weight somewhat, so I say without her suit Tali is 120. Agreed?

And the suit could weigh 20 pounds it could weigh 60. Either way, she has to haul around extra weight. Shepard's suit probably weighs 100 pounds, so obviously it doesn't affect their agility that much. And considering how fast Tali moves, I'll bet she could throw a mean kick or punch.

Or pounce

I think Grunt is just talking about suits. but it would be interesting if they had ridged spines like geth.  Though there's no evidence of it looking at quarian backsides.

Compared to a cyclops, Tali is short.

Compared
to my girlfriend, Tali, Miranda, all females are quite tall (between
5'9 and 5'11 based on the length of their femur)

Or maybe Grunt has only seen tank imprints and thinks the enviro-suits are the Quarian's skin?

So Grunt = idiot.

I'm pretty much convinced that Grunt's comment was in regards to the suits. Everything he knows is in regards to fighting. Now, he'll never fight a quarian who isn't in a suit; their suits are basically part of their physiology.

To a Krogan, 'soft' is said in regards to how difficult it is to kill someone. And in the context of Grunt's dialog, how difficult it is to kill someone with a knife.

I imagine that the quarian suit material is probably similar to kevlar, so it would be difficult to stab through it.
