It tends to show that your character information was received long before it ends up becoming available on your profile, so its a good way to ensure that the exchange of data actually happened. If it still could, I wouldn't be able to tell you how, since I've never used it. Normally I go to My Games, Dragon Age Origins, and there is a button for Profile Diagnostics, but this probably doesn't apply in your situation.
