Have to agree with the idea that having that additional time with them made the resultant romance far better. In both cases, you could see how they wouldn't have wanted it in ME 1 (Garrus because he just ain't into humans, but respects and eventually loves FemShep, and Tali because she was so young, inexperienced, and afraid.).
Epic Win for Bioware.

There was a sketch a while back of Garrus and Tali both in hoodies. Add Kasumi.

This. I wasn't all that big on any of the ME1 characters. But having Garrus and Tali rejoin made them pure gold for some reason. Hell, I even got all choked up a Wrex's "Shepard! My friend!" and I really didn't like him in ME1.cannedcream wrote...

I'm a sucker for a well written romance... and all four of them were brilliant.
But... Thane And Jack weren't there when you fought Saren, or when you made an assault on the Thorian, or when you took down the Rachni Queen. Garrus and Tali have been there with you, been there FOR you. You just can't beat that. It has an unmatchable intrinsic value.
And the fact that that was a two year break for both Shepard and for us also did a lot to help us as the player to feel some of the same joy that Shepard might have felt for getting some of his old team back, or at least it did in my case.

How about Haestrom's sun burning through her Shields as she makes a last stand outside that room you find her in. Give her a little battle damage (cracked visor, bullet wound, whatever).
(I figured Epic was more of your art-style.)

It was only a blink of an eye for Shepard, but it was the worst awakening anyone can imagine. Your family is just... gone.

Just make sure you point out somewhere that this is right before Shep saves her and everyone lives happily ever after
In fact, add that to the picture somehow, that way there's no confusion that she's alright

Personally, I love the damsel-in-distress ideal. But I think Freddie Nietzch said it better:
“Believe me! The secret of reaping the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment from life is to live dangerously!”

I agree, but the tattoos are enough uniqueness for me personally. It seems to me like a Shep that romanced Jack would have a chance to soften her personality a little, and I think a more inviting hair style may be a piece to that puzzle.
