I wouldn't exactly consider letting the council die a particularly renegade move.  More like, not super paragon, but that's a different conversation

I do forsee problems with the council races in ME3 though.  The asari seem more than willing to become the turian's pets, and Shep is likely to be completely ignored by them, while others like the geth and krogan will follow him.  I could even see up to a civil war between the council races and Shep's group of species.  If they truly don't believe the reaper threat, the only reason for Shep building that team would be a coup.

Uh, the asari don't even have a formal military, do they?  I thought equipping and training soldiers and the like was left up to the individual city-states (and now planets, I guess).

From what I saw in ME2, the Justicars is their only real "military" system aside from the eclipse, but I htink the eclipse is more of an Illium driven thing.

Asari: We don't have an army because we are too civilized.
Salarians: We don't have an army beacause we are sneaky ninjas.

Humans: We attach Nuclear Weapons to our Space probes, just for kicks.

Humans are just amazing like that.

Yeah, saying Eclipse is the asari military is like saying the Mafia is the Italian military.

Bad example... Seeing as the Itallian Military can't stay under the same leadership for more than 6 months...

Seriously, humans need their own Super Dreadnaught so we can one-up the Asari and their lame "Destiny Ascension"

What kind of name is that?! When we build our Super Dreadnaught, we'll call it the Deathstar. It's a badass name, and none of the other races will get the reference.

Using that other guy's Step 1:

Step1:  Hug Tali.
Step2:  Use combined fleet to hold Reapers off for a little bit.
Step3:  Shepard pulls off some kind of OMGHAX!!!1! miracle.
Step4:  (optional)  Hug Tali again.
Step5:  Win.
Step6:  goto Step4.

I concur.  Plus, it would give Tali hell if the quarians sided with the council races, having to choose between Shepard or her people.

Quarians won't side with the council.  They've done nothing but screw them over for centuries.

And once I've gotten them back on the homeworld, they'll be building statues of me and Tali together.

Fixed.

Except for the Salarians, since a lot of them are Sci Fi buffs.

Okay, how about this one:  Eclipse is the asari military like the Bloods are the US military.

It's called Earth, didnt you read its description when you go to the "local cluster"
It says you need heavy shields just to get in or out and missles have little to no chance of getting into the atmosphere, I say it already has its force field so it's already 1 upped the deathstar!Image IPB

I believe the number is 51,000.  I could be wrong, but its close to that.  Certainly not 150,000.  We also don't know how well equipped those ships are.  I've made this comparison before, compare it to you and a group of friends driving around in cars with BB guns.  You could have 20 cars, but one tank is still going to kill you all.  Quality means something, and if 100 council race dreadnoughts match 20,000 quarian ships, what's the point of massive loss of life for the quarians?

And it would be really nice for your plan if the reapers attacked all at once, from one specific direction, and the ability to blow up stars becomes a reality in the months between ME2 and ME3.  I see that as a little unlikely though.

Apparently, from the Codex entries, the weaponry is advanced enough to deter pirates from attacking Quarian ships.

Quarians are technical geniuses. All their weaponry is probably out-of-date, but hand-improved. For example, you can build a homeade flamethrower from a water gun, a match, and some gasoline. Lethality improved by 1000x.

But we aren't comparing a home-made flamethrower with a water gun.  Were comparing a home-made flamethrower with a military grade flamethrower, designed by a military company with 10x the resources, designed specifically to kill people.

Anything the quarians can make, a militaristic race like the humans or turians could make better, and more of, with more lives to throw at the cause.  I'm not saying that the quarians are useless in the fight, just that other races are a lot more equipped for the conflict.

An un-genophaged krogan race is probably the best for combat, although I don't know how old they have to be before they are combat ready.  Quarians will always be the best engineers.  Using them as infantry when you have krogans and turians is a waste of life.

Step One: Peace talks with the Geth.
Step Two: Begin massive construction efforts.  Quarians can be the Arsenal of the Galaxy, if the Volus supply them.
Step Three: Start a layered defense, like Zhukov did at the Battle of Kursk.  And let every planet be a Stalingrad.

Overall, the galaxy must remain on the defensive, slowly grinding the Reapers down, one ship at a time.  Reapers appear to have no way of creating new Reapers, without massive amounts of time.  The races of the galaxy, however, can always replace ships and people.

Kind of boring, gamewise though.  Bioware will do something epic, probably.

Foreshadowing, possibly.  Completely irrelevant to the third game is also a possibility.  Going from preliminary studies of accelerated star growth, to development of a weapon of unparalleled power in a matter of months is unheard of.  Possible in sci-fi, but pretty unbelievable for me.

I hadn't thought about a Geth Star though.  I almost hope thats true, just so we get a Geth Star in ME3
