Thing is, I was reading about whether Tali would be a LI in mid-January, and people released "videos" of her "romance dialogue" so I didn't read further or see anything, but sort of suspected it was a possibility, ya know?

Then go through the game and Kelly says that line and I think I stopped breathing for awhile and didn't even choose any dialogue option lol...just kinda sat there with my mouth open...wide eyed...:mellow::mellow::innocent:

Tali's audio logs on Haestrom gave some hints, particularly the "...I wish Shepard were here." line, but I thought it was just her being sweet. But yes, I was very psyched to hear Kelly's observation.

OMG the audio logs..why didn't I pick up on that? You're right she was just being sweet, but that line shoulda hinted.  It's funny how "hero worship" comes up when talking about Tali..so she's not a royal b!tch to you, therefor she's your fangirl. Right.

I know how you feel right now goat, i start thinking about it and realise how she mentions Shepard in the logs like 3 or 4 total times...

Hearing those audio logs for the first time was when I fell for Tali.

Actually, insofar as romances are concerned I was pretty strongly leaning towards staying faithful to Ashley before Tali's popped up out of nowhere. Funny thing is, I wasn't even a Tali shipper during ME1. I liked her as a character but she didn't strike me as the love interest type.

Then Tali popped up on Freedom's Progress and started her long series of crowning moments of heartwarming.

Agreed. I really liked Ashley in ME1 and enjoyed the romance a lot. I didn't even mind her attitude at Freedoms Progress that much. But Kelly's comment had me really interested and as soon as Tali's romance actually got started.... all I can say is that when Tali said "wow... it's really hot in here" I couldn't have agreed more. I was so lost from then on.

I've said it before, but now I can't even play Ashley's romance anymore. All I can see, when Ashley starts saying "Oh captain, my captain" which I used to love, is Tali sobbing down in Engineering because she thinks Shepard will never ever see her. I just fall apart and save/reload every time.

Kaidan has grown on me, actually. 
My next playthrough is going to be a tough one when I have to chose who to kill on Virmire.

I always have Tali with me though, no exceptions.
