Just kidding, that's actually my main Femshep. My main MaleShep is an Earthborn.

Why does everyone dig Earthborn so much? Colonist has such potential.

Maybe because it's a way to relate Shepard more to ourselves?
Dunno.
I played through all three and Earthborn/ Sole Survivor was my first and favorite combo.

My first character was an Earthborn, Sole Survivor. He looked pretty strange, then on my next game I decided to check out the default Shepard, same histroy, face does not look bad. I think it was a reasonable upgrade.

The whole orphan and gang thing threw me off in terms of playing as myself (which is what I do). I thought colonist was much better for me.

This.  The thinness of his face makes some of the mouth animations super creepy.  And sometimes his eyes look overly large.

Agreed, I like my custom face much better than the default for the most part. Sheploo isn't ugly, but looking at videos on the net of him he looks insane sometimes.

I like to think that Shepard had a choice. He could go back to Mindoir, rebuild, maybe even start a family. Or he could take up the Oath of Service and make sure what happened to him never had to happen to another child again.

I never really got any creepy looks from my custom Shepard. His smile did look ridiculous at the end of ME1 though, it kind of ruined the moment
