I think Tali didn't spend much time on the flotilla anyway, so it doesn't matter how big her quarters are

Comparing an alien coming here isn't a good comparison. More like, we've been in contact with other alien races around the galaxy for 2,000 years prior to this happening. We're on shaky terms with them to some point, but this guy is legit, and anyone who looks can tell. Aliens are not a new thing to the quarians.
Also, I think you're forgetting the spectre factor. If there is someone who can kill you at will, without consequence, you don't **** with him. Period. Especially when its clear that he's a good guy who has helped you a lot in the past.
I spose you're right. They'd want to have someone like Shepard hanging around them I guess, but Idk if everyone would accept his relationship with Tali. Maybe not openly against it, but not like "you two are soo cute".
Wait..I want it to be like that last part
I wouldn't expect everyone to be for it. The vast majority of people would be just fine, but you'll still have socially backward idiots. Only difference is in this case, Shepard can kill anyone he wants if they start a fight. That threat alone would be enough for people to either say "you're so cute," or just leave them alone.

Why would a book on quarian anatomy blur out their faces? If you know about quarian erogenous zones enough to put it in a book, you know what their faces look like.
