Actually, in the first scene, the camera shows you the direction from which the Collector ship eventually appears from, and it was not visible. The collector ship appeared at a far distance, and very deliberately headed straight towards the Normandy. 

I personally believe that the Normandy had some kind of tracking beacon, planted by Cerberus (no, I do NOT believe that Cerberus was responsible for the Normandy being attacked or intended it to be).

Weeks before the Normandy got attacked, TIM said an interesting line: "See to it that we don't lose him." This line implies that they wanted to be able to keep track of the Normandy and its status while in the Terminus systems. The best way to do that would be with some kind of tracking beacon.

It's possible that the Shadow Broker learned of this tracking beacon, and sold the info on it to the Collectors.

Well, you know, it depends... I'm sure that if they actually chose more civilized region of Earth, they wouldn't have to worry about racism floating in the air. (Hint: more civilized =/= more urbanized)

So it looks like Earth may be pretty tolerant of aliens, if one's playing in a "human" sport.

Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier for Baseball.  He also faced relentless racism and death threats the entire time.  Accepting someone onto a sports team doesn't mean he's accepted by the majority, let alone everyone.

A situation like this, its important to note, that one person can ruin it for everyone.  It doesn't matter how many thousands of people say nothing, if a handful do, that's all it takes.

Not sure a city would be better.  Even if the average person is more civilized, you have a lot more idiots.  You still have millions of people who were born as the biggest badasses in the universes, and now that isn't true anymore.  They've probably had no exposure to aliens at all.  That combination of ignorance and fear will breed contempt. 

*sigh* I was just trying to tell that 'more civilized region' doesn't need to mean 'more urbanized'. I'd say that eastern Europe countryside would do nicely. Can't imagine xenophobia in such place...

I'm actually not sure which I'd prefer, her being a good dancer, or not knowing what she's doing and just fumbling around adorably.  Although I think either scenario could lead to an overwhelming amount of adorableness

she says that dancers are respected in her culture, so probably music and dance probably are quite rooted in quarian culture, she likes the "disco dance" on the citadel in me1 and she indeed seem very agile (and probably quite strong too). i will be quite surprised if she doesnt know how to dance

Yeah, she probably can dance to some degree.  Although her not knowing would be understandable.  She seemed to get a pretty millitaristic upbringing.  Its possible that quarians respect dance, but Tali was too busy with shotgun training to take dance classes.

She definitely has the body and potential to be a good dancer, doesn't mean it wouldn't be adorable to see her trying to move her body and hips to the music, while getting a little frustrated by Shep's masterful dancing skills
