Quarians may just have some kind of hole, like Asari do. Or maybe their ear lobes are just different than ours (omg space elves!).

All we can really know for certain, from Ascension's statement, is that their ears are not identical to ours.

The books info is ambiguous,  They are no more likely to have asari ears than they are elf ears.  We just have to wait for that info.
