Close...There's gotta be a word I'm looking for, damn it this is driving me nuts.

Trust me, I looked it up quite a few times while writing that chapter. Girlfriend is a very much proper term to use.

We know quarians do marry/bond, and we know marriages aren't forced, so they do have a period in which they're basically boyfriend/girlfriend.

I'd like to know of what a Quarian term for a boyfriend/girlfriend would be, that would just make more sense to me.

Just the use of the word girlfriend...I dunno it dosnt feel right for someone like Tali, like she deserves a better word then that, but I'm drawing a blank as to what word I would want to use.

Girlfriend does seem a bit odd of a word for Shepard to use... I'm having trouble thinking of a way for Shepard to mention them being together with another word/s myself.

Pretty much this, I know that Tali is Shepards girlfriend, but for as close as they are, girlfriend dosn't cut it, there needs to be something more intimate, but not lover or mate, christ now im gonna be up all night thinking of this.

Some quarian word that sounds abso-****ing-lutely adorable when Tali says it.

I really don't know how to make it anymore obvious without feeling dirty. Okay, You can't makeout if your having oral sex, and the fluids can't taste good, but I wouldn't know, I'm too disgusted by the thought to try it.
Now can we please move on to something that will make me D'awww instead of barf?

I'm sure they have a word for it in their language, but the translators will just translate that, like they do most words.

Some exceptions of course... words like bosh'tet or keelah se'lai don't have direct English equivalents. Kinda like with Thane and "Siha", there is no direct english equivalent.

Tali will be a squad member in ME3.

You don't need to worry or think about it, I've already done that. It's safe to just blindly listen to me and accept it.

I'd like to blindly listen, I really would.

But I just can't stop worrying over the fact.

Perhaps some facts would reassure you.  Such as there being no possible way to write her off the Normandy, the cost for making a replacement character being more than keeping Tali, or the fact that they aren't going to be developing new characters in ME3.

There is no possible way that Tali is not a squad mate in ME3 :wizard:

Not having Tali would be like not having Garrus.

The first two original team members not being in the 3rd game would be blastphemey. Bioware isn't stupid, they listen to their fans. I just hope the story will have a nice ending. After all the **** they've been through, they deserve a good ending.

The ONLY squadmates you can have in all three games.

Fact is, even when I get confirmation, I'll still be here, this thread serves many more purposes other than the main one. That's why I'm here despite the trolls and spam B)

Just say "we're together" or "Tali and I are together". I like the mutualistic sound to that.

This is what i'm thinking of Simon... I mentioned it earlier, i'm thinking the Quarian language may have a better word for it which i had said earlier. Id like to know the ones they use for it. They did make up "Bosh'tet so I imagine they have other words out there for something such as this. Maybe you can talk to tali and learn it maybe if you romance her?

You assume a role like wrex is cheap?  They still need to bring back Liz Sroka, they still need to develop a story that makes some sense as to why she isn't on the Normandy (seriously, try this one, I can't think of any possible reason.)  Than you need to develop a new character to replace her on the team.  That's a ton more work/money than bringing back Tali, and removing her in games that had her died.

She left the Neema, not the Rayya, largely because of Shepard.  She trusts him completely.  Add in that she can be in a relationship with him, and possibly exiled from the flotilla.  There's no way she leaves the Normandy.

You have more than enough squad mates in ME3.  Just removing the content of dead characters is easy enough.

Your underrating the fan response as well.  ME3 needs to bring back all of the characters as squad mates again, otherwise ME3 will lack the same amount of character development.  It will wreck any chance that ME3 has of surpassing 2.

wrex's role is way cheaper then talis role in ME2!!

in ME2.. she left her ship to go be with shepard, showing... that there may be a bond with the ship name .. but its not going to stop her from going some where else... like back to the flottila!!

what does she bring to the table... tech skills... got legion.. got kasumi.... and for the most part, tech was not really needed in ME2

people are expecting ME3 to be in a sense two games in one... not going to happen .. bioware will take short cuts and hand out NPC roles to characters

if it was not for the fanbase she would have most likely been a NPC in ME2

Is Wrex's role really cheaper when you factor in making an entire new krogan team mate, and then still have to work on Reave's character on top of that?  It would have been cheaper to just have Wrex in Grunt's place, Reave in Wrex's, and a dead/alive flag on Wrex.

Character practicality means nothing for who's coming back.  We wouldn't have 20 squad members if that was the case.  Everyone is superfluous because 3 people can do every job.  Tali is no different.

The shortcut will be that the characters themselves don't affect the plot.  You don't need Tali to reclaim the homeworld, or Grunt to unite the krogan, but they'll still be on your team.

How do you explain her going back to the flotilla in a file where she was exiled and romanced by Shepard?  It would be a worse disaster than Liara's character assassination.

And I know we like to feel important as a fan base, but we didn't have anything to do with her being in ME2.  Bioware had her character arc planned out before hand, and probably still does.

Don't know if this is a real word in any language...but it would sound perfect if Tali said it.

But that wouldn't make sense. Asari are the only species who "Bond" or "Meld" The term "Bondmate refers specifically to asari's vulcan mind-meld brain-sex.

That term is more for a wife/husband type thing.

You can't really apply that to the start of a romantic relationship.
