I was playing ME2 then got a phone call so I activated this ans took the call, stared at it the whole time I was talking on the phone

This is my point. The thread consistently devolves. Mostly due to a few select people. I don't know how people tolerate it.

Why not just block the images you don't want to see?  Its as easy as right click > block images from... on Firefox. 

This is actually what I do. Whenever I visit this thread I turn off images in firefox. It pains me to know the images are being posted in the thread to begin with, though.

I still think you're overstating the difficulty of having an on topic discussion.  It has to be a topic that people online can, and want to talk about, but there is almost always a person or two on to bite on an interesting topic.  The trolls and pictures is stuff that needs to be ignored.  If you can't ignore it, then yeah, probably best to try a different thread, there isn't much we can do about those things.

The thread moves way too fast for a conversation to hold. I don't blame you guys for that though, just the images. I've had wonderful conversations with Pauravi and a few other people when the thread has slowed down.

True, sometimes it's overbearing, but selective reading has done me wonders. I can't read a book anymore due to lack of attention span, but I can hold a conversation in blogging If it get's too bad, I can just come back later (those that don't have the luxury, I see your frustration, maybe). but really, if you got 2 people on one thread talking in a heated discussion, I don't think anything can distract them from any replies they get concerning.

Now, I will sit back and catch up on this damn thread a little.

The community intimidated me at first, moreso in that I was extremely outgunned in any debate I tried to participate in.  It takes a while to digest all of the quarian related info that the average poster here has.  The people are nice though, as long as you don't make an ass of yourself (which you don't seem to be,) you should be fine.

The thread is usually going on different tangents at all times, so trying to start your own is never really derailing (as long as its on topic of course.) I prefer to just lurk until I find a worthy topic, but if you have a good topic, people will respond.

The speed of the thread is not my main complaint. My main complaint is how the thread consistently devolves into something primitive. I am also able to selectively thread but I cannot selectively view images. I am most able to have a nice discussion when most people are asleep.
