I think it's safe to say that Garrus is pretty much Shepards bromance.
Would anybody dispute this?
Similarly, it seems to me that Tali and Garrus, having shared a history with Shepard (and being recruited around the same time in ME1) would also be on pretty good terms, overall. The three form a power trio of sorts, with Shepard at the center. Not that the other team members aren't important, but the fact is that the shared history between the three, I think, makes them all the more close - even if your Shepard romances neither.

Collider, I'm looking at last night's convo (which I missed, dammit). Good stuff, but you guys are a bunch of sissies who can't handle drama. No ME1 LI? C'mon, people are allowed to make mistakes, grow, and realize that the quarian of their dreams was there for them all along.
I'm looking forward to the dramabomb.
Eh, I did ME2 on a new character since my saves all dissapeared, then when I went back to ME1 I couldn't bring myself to get involved with Ash or Liara knowing what will happen with Tali.
Now I can't be arsed to go back and play ME1 again.

Shepard, Tali and Garrus. Sister and brother from diffrent mothers.
So. . .dating Tali is incest, then?
Not sure how I feel about that. . .
Anyway, I know what you mean and I agree. That's why I almost HAVE to take Tali and Garrus with me to kill the human Reaper, it just. . .MUST BE! It feels so right.

Pfft, I never really liked the ME1 romances anyway. I don't like Ashley that way and Liara comes on to Shepard way too soon and way too strongly. Plus she isn't that interesting to be honest.NuclearBuddha wrote...

Aside from the sissies part (which I'm sure was in jest), I have to agree with you actually.
I could go back and undo my save where I romanced Ashley, which also happens to be the one I used to romance Tali, but I think that would be dishonest. As my infiltrator!Shepard I made the conscious choice to romance Ashley, based on my character's feelings at the time. Later, I made the conscious choice to romance Tali in ME2. Going back and "fixing" it so that I don't have to face the fallout seems like cheating to me (okay, poor choice of words given the situation).
People fall in and out of love. It happens. People are unfaithful. And really, I don't want my Shepard to be perfect. I even am having difficulty convincing myself to load up back to the Collector Base and save Mordin, even though I love his character, because I feel my character made a mistake. Sure, it's a game, but what's the point of having choices if you're not willing to face their consequences?
Of course, on the other hand, my foreknowledge of the game's events will affect future playthroughs so I may end up going back and saving Mordin anyway. But the point stands.

My thoughts, Liara just felt rush. Ash was ok, but there is so much that could have been done with her. My fav characters in ME where not even the Li which is sad and funny. Hell I found the virmire scene easy, I don't like Kaidan, bye bye Kaidan.

Yeah, the ME1 LI's are a little boring, like Lividity says, but I think that ME2 actually gives them a little depths. Not so much with Ash, who was arguably better developed anyway, but Liara was shown to have hidden depths (and terrible monsters lurking in those hidden depths).cannedcream wrote...

I mean, the outcome is going to be fairly obvious, but it should still be interesting.
There are things to like about them: Ash's firey temper and determination and hidden girlish side, and Liara's bookish purity.
I felt pretty bad the first time I went up to the cabin and saw Liara's picture face-down. I wouldn't go back, of course, but the confrontation is still likely to sting. And that should be worth the entry price, really.

What if it ended both romances? Bioware's specific use of consequences and repercussions seems to indicate the consequence for "cheating" will be larger than the confrontation in ME1.Nivenus wrote...

Then I'll have to deal with that.
If that ends up happening (and yes, I know there will be "repercussions"), I probably will eventually go back and make a save that's cleared of ME1 romances (like I need an excuse to go back and play it again anyway). But I wouldn't feel right going back and doing it now just so I could be "safe." You play with fire, you might get burnt. So it is in life and honestly, I wish I was less risk adverse.

Oh, I'm expecting it to be nothing short of soul-slashingly painful and ending with tears and hurtful words of betrayal because this is BioWare and they love our pain, but at the same time it will also be amazing.
Besides, I want to see Tali stand up for her love with Shepard. I don't want her to feel guilty about it or like she's a burdon. I want, for once, to stand up for something-someone-she really wants.

BS and you know it. Think of it this way: Defalt Shep in ME2 has the Ash romance. You mean to tell me that if you romance someone in ME2 (being a new player to the game and all) you get punished HARD for it in ME3? No way, man.Collider wrote...
