Wasn't the hood supposed to be a "hair" replacement?

well i think is in one tough pickle. not just with tali but with damn near every other fan base. they all have VERY loyal fans and i think it impossible to give them all a big role. i mean look at ME1. they had 6 chars and all of them were barley able to make an apearence in ME2. now they have 10 new chars on top of the allredy populer 6 and i think its going to be impossible to pleas all the fans. they will have to step on some toes and i would hate to quote someone from another thread but i really dont envy them right now. the fact that every squad mate can end up dead at the end of ME2 leaves way to many variables for the next game. o well im just going to enjoy the ride for better or for worse. regardless of how the game turns out i think the fan feedback will be...intresting

The best course of action I can think of for them, is have most characters go back to ME1 level of involvement.  They're still in your mind, and they affect the game in minor ways, but they aren't too important either.

On top of that, make your LI have an expanded role compared to the other characters.  That way, no one game is loaded with characters taking over, but fans of 9 different characters get their favorite one to be the main one. 
you also appeal to the huge percentage of people that want the romance arc expanded.  I don't see how this doesn't work really :happy:

same here, me1 had more approaches to various situations and the character developement was waaaay better, me2 feels a bit arcadish, sort of cod with super power, even if i like how cover is handled and the fast pace

I agree.  I actually hope they don't spend much time on the actual gameplay at all.  If I want good shooting mechanics I'll play another game.  I want a better plotline and character development.  I come back for the characters and universe.

ME2 had an idiot default Shepard with some of the worst decisions you could imagine. But it still let us import our own ME1 characters (with the correct decisions I might add).

ME3 will just do the same. Have an idiot Shepard that slugs can play with and allow us to import our characters into it.

As for the crew. I see starting with the crew we have. Thane will be dead due to his illness and Samara will leave as her promise has been kept. In their place we get Liara and either Kaidan or Ashley to fill the spots.

I don't see Thane dead.  He should get LI protection.  They aren't going to have 1/9 LIs not have a conclusion.  ME3 is likely to take place right after the ending of ME2, that gives Thane some more time to live, and maybe something you can do to help him in the middle.

Thane IS dying, had less than a year to begin with.  Stated that right in the game.  Its a tragic LI but it was put out right at the beginning. 
And, just so ya know, Tali is the ONLY LI, the others are just one night stands.  Never did care for those.

The other LIs are definitely not one night stands.  Maybe in your mind, but I guarantee, not everyone's, and they won't be treated like that by Bioware. 

He had less than a year, its only been a few months.  He still has some time left.  Bioware can always wave their magic wand and buy him an extra year through some technological advancement.

The reason I love mass effect so much is because of the character interactions and the feelings it gives you, mass effect is the only game I have ever played that I gave a crap about people, like Tali. I would generally be sad if they died. Idk, you become attached. Something no other game does.

while I COMPLETELY disagree with you on the underlined, I do feel that Mass Effect 2 did take a few pages from Gears of War.

Though, admittedly, I think the new combat system is fantastic.  My only real issue is the lack of continuity between missions (loading screens and mission reports?  REALLY BIOWARE?)
