Well, thing is that some racial discrimination would be justified in a place with multiple alien races. 

For example, if a nightclub owner was hiring bouncers, would you really hold it against him if he had up a sign saying "Not hiring salarians or volus"? 

Of course, with Lia'Vael it wasn't an issue of her not being suited for the job. I'm just using that as an example oh how the council would probably want to avoid making laws that dealt with equal-opportunity employment. 

A trained salarian with an assault rifle would be just as good as a turian.

You think the asari, turians, and salarians now humans have a problem with being superior over everyone else?  People in power will seek to keep that power, and they have all the army.  No racial equality is coming any time soon in the ME universe.

Unless you know, ME3 plays out like I've assumed and you end up coup'ing the council

But the fact that the Council let them nearly go extinct for their mistake, and offered no help to them at all (in fact, they basically 'kicked them' while they were 'down'), and have let them survive in their current state, is just plain disgusting, irresponsible, and--if you forgive the term--inhumane. 

They'll go out of their way to uplift the Raloi for launching a stupid space telescope, but they let the quarians wander around the galaxy, on the brink of extinction for three hundred years? 

Seriously, WTF is that?

The quarians were completely to blame for the geth attack.  They broke the rules regarding AIs.  Yes, holding that against their descendants is stupid, but the ancestors deserve the blame.  They did have control over the geth.  They could have, you know, not built them

The salarians saved the galaxy from the rachni, or at least thats the majority view.  The council races didn't have the ability to take the fight to the rachni homeworld.  The krogans could.  The salarians saved many lives, and then "fixed" the problem in the best way they could.  If you truly believe the rachni would have eradicated all life in the galaxy (which is the view I believe,) isn't the salarian's solution preferable?

Beg to differ with ya on the quarians.  Only things they are responsible for are creating the geth and losing their home world.
The geth attacks are due to Sovereign.  The heretics were following him.  The geth believe in self determination.

I think we agree here.  I blame the quarian ancestors for creating the geth, but the satute of limitations on the blame for that is long gone.  The quarians shouldn't be held responsible now. 

Also, according to the general public, the reapers don't exist.  The heretic geth are the same entity as the regular geth as far as the galaxy knows.  So while its true, its not helping anyone's case.

Council have always been bastards. Politicians always look for ways to set themselves up.

Maybe the Quarians were making a push to join the Council. Maybe they were like humanity, always pushing the boundaries of what they can do, and the Council wanted them out of the way.

Despicable. AFAIC, if it's possible, Shepard will get the Quarians at least an embassy, if not a seat.

The Council represents multiple races, they can't simply do this and that, they need to do what's best for everyone.. as well as listen to what people want. And atm people are very upset with the Quarians, it would do more harm than good in the bigger picture to help them, when the people you represent could care less, or even demand you do not.

And it could be worse, least they were not exiled from Council Space.

Well that's a different issue altogether.  I don't think its fair to blame the council for not sacrificing their own people's lives to clean up someone elses mistake personally.  It may not have been the smart decision, since now the geth are a lot stronger, but you can't really blame the people who didn't save the people who messed up.
