Well, I'm hardly any kind of biologist or anything like that, but from what I've read, it's my understanding that the main issue with their opposite chirality and food is that they'd lack the enzymes to break down amino-acids of the opposite chirality. So levo protein can not be digested by them; at best, it just gets ignored, and at worst, there's some kind of bad reaction to it. 

If that's accurate, then it would likely be safe for them to many things with no protein in it; like soda.

I don't think he would.

He does have that "I always liked Tali" line, but I always seemed that's just his way of saying "You know, I honestly can't think of anything negative or snide to say about her." 

Just because someone is nice to Tali does not mean they're in love with her, geez.

No no, you were right, soda really would not have any sort of proteins in it unless it was natural. Maybe then but unlikely. They would more than likely be able to consume soda with no issue.
