Hell no.
Feeling sorry for the Collectors doesn't mean you shouldn't stop them or refrain from killing them if it's necessary. Any more than feeling sorry for Saren means you shouldn't stop him in ME1 or feeling sorry for any number of villains in previous BioWare games (Malak, Irenicus, etc.) means you shouldn't stop them. Sympathy is simply an acknowledgment of their circumstances and point of view, not an endorsement of them.

In all honesty I just thought the collectors were cool. I do wonder if the general really did regain consciousness once Harbinger released control, or if they really were just completely mindless.Nivenus wrote...

I feel sorry for the Protheans, not so much the Collectors. We aren't even sure there is any individuality whatsoever in the Collectors - they way well be mindless husks. That occurs to be the end result of indoctrination - making the subject a vessel for command and nothing else.Nivenus wrote...

I noticed that. It seems as if the thread is on the teetering of derailment at every second, once more. Too much focus on forumite drama among other things. But, I try.

Point taken...I feel some sympathy for the Collectors, mostly due to their perversion by the Reapers, but I hate them for trying to bring about the end of all advanced life in the galaxy.Nivenus wrote...

NOTE: I use the terms "Collector" & "Prothean" interchangably when reffering to the Protheans' alterations by the Reapers.

I have no strong opinion on the matter. There's no way to tell for sure how subsumed the Collectors were in ME2. They could have been practically husks, as Mordin believes. They could have been trapped in a state of "I have no mouth and I must scream," which should evoke sympathy from anyone. It's hard to tell. There's no clear answer.
My statement was merely a moral one.
But I think we're derailing, even if this is an interesting discussion.
