Have to bring this up again: Some short episode in ME3 where you control Tali....
Or atleast ability to control your squadmates like in DA or KOTOR.

not sure that would work, what if people started doing renegade action with Tali, it wouldn't suit her character... however a small mission played as her or like you said the ability to control her in combat would be cool. Although I think that it would bring you out of the roll of Shepard, I know
that when i was playing DA:O I didn't really feel that I was being represented in the game because of all the floating around characters etc

Yeah, we shouldn't be able to make any of Tali's decision.  I can't see that making sense.  I don't really see how it adds anything to the game, but it isn't like playing Joker hurt anything.

yeah I agree playing Joker made sense but I think shepard should be the only character we control, I mean he/she is supposed to represent us in the game world, that won't work if we are jumping around the different characters making decisions for them

Well, some spin-off game would also be cool, like ME:Galaxy, but it has to be a lot better then that and appear in PC and Xbox 360.

Well, if the third game is anything like the previous two, you'll only start out with a couple of squadmates to choose from with more joining you as you progress. I'm none too sure as to who the first two squaddies will be (although I have my preferences) but I'm imagining that they'll cook some reasons as to why the others that survived ME2 aren't with you right off the bat (returned to the flotilla, business on Tuchanka, etc.)

As for romances, I'm not expecting them to pull the ME1 LI treatment a second time. LI's from ME1 and ME2 have each had their own games to springboard to romantic plots, so this time around everyone will be starting off on even footing, so to speak. We're likely to see a new LI or 2 since they wanna have something new with every game, but I don't see the prior romances, especially the Tali one given the ferocity of her fanbase, getting tossed out the window.

See, I don't see ME3 starting like ME2.  In ME2, it took half the game to gather your team.  They have more pressing plot matters to get to in ME3.  They can't have you spend half the game recruiting.

Personally, I see ME3 picking off exactly where ME2 ended, with everyone still on the Normandy.  Now you have a full team, and can focus on going off to recruit the krogan and geth races or whatever.

The problem with people leaving is that you need to explain a lot of people.  And some of the explanations would absolutely suck.  Where are Garrus and Tali really going?  And if your just going to turn around and re-recruit all of these people, why would they leave anyway?  You aren't getting any new news about the reapers, they all know what the real threat is.

And if everyone playing ME3 were the folks that had played ME2, I'd totally agree.  Thing is that Bioware loves to have each of their games function as a stand alone so they can draw in new players.  If the game starts off with a dozen squaddies that the player knows next to nothing about, they're gonna find it a bit overwhelming- too much, too soon.
I'd love it if ME3 picked up right where the previous one left off, but because of the nature of the beast (video game "level up" structure), it's liable to start off with Shep on some mission or other with a couple of squadmates and have the story and roster expand as he meets up with previous allies and likely some new ones too.

I think the main issue with a spin-off or playing another squadie is who.

Anybody you pick automatically pisses of alot of people.

If you bring candy you better bring some for everyone.

Why do the new players matter here?  They can learn the same amount of information about the characters while they're still on the team.  They don't have to leave for that to happen.  It would just be like ME1 where you basically start with everyone, and get to know them from there.  A little more overwhelming, but its nothing that people can't handle.  This does probably mean that we won't get a ton of new info on our returning characters, but hopefully we at least get something.

And I hadn't thought about an explanation for the level up system.  Personally, I would prefer they just said, "Its a new game, your skills reset, deal with it."   Than something idiotic like killing Shepard again. :?

I think it would be cool to have all squad members at the start of the game, maybe the 'development' of the story could be in helping the characters with final goodbye's before the final battle with the reapers, it would give people an insight into the characters as well as continue the story for existing players, I think though that the recruiting side of it will be something similar to that of DA:O where you have to gain the support of all the major races, i.e. get the support of citadel races, travel to the Flotilla to gain the assistance of the Quarians (maybe a mission could be thrown in here which involves sorting out the Geth/Quarian problem) and finally an epic ending involving a HUGE battle wit hthe reapers against a new alliance of all sentient life in the galaxy, with Shepard and his team spearheading the assault, that would totally rock!

I would like a ME-game about a quarian on his/her Pilgrimage. Sure, everyone wouldn't like it, but then again, they don't have to buy it.

Ok this would suck but what if the game start with a mission, you pick 2 team members,go on the mission and when your gone your ship gets sucked through a relay and you have to find it. Then when you find it, all remaining team mates are controled by Reapers and you have to kill them all to destroy the Reapers. Image IPB
I know this idea is bad but I would wanna play that somehow.

BW definitely wants a mission about the quarian/geth problem in ME3. Otherwise, Legion wouldn't be a part of the main mission. Maybe he's not a very important character in ME3, but I think it would help to have him around.

Yeah but when money comes into play, you need to play to the most people you can.
I think the main reason the trilogy is the end of the story is the create your own story aspect of it.
Carrying desicions over more then two game would be way too difficult.
Maybe the universe continues with many people appearing in the story, maybe even shepard, but the story of what happened with the reapers is cannonized.

I know, Mass Effect 2's music is ridiculously epic. There aren't many games that can compare.

I think i would fail at playing a renegade character, there is no way on earth I would use renegade when talking to Tali, I don't know how people can do that...
