Fair enough. I sympathize with both sides.

Same here.  What the quarians did, trying to kill their own metophorical children in the cradle, was monstrous, especially for a race that practices ancestor worship.  But geth missed a good opportunity to do the right thing and instead tried to wipe them out, too.

It was a knee-jerk reaction for both sides. The geth believed that the quarians wanted to wipe them out and reacted accordingly. It likely went as far as it did because their self-preservation programming went into overdrive.

I don't blame the quarians for attacking the geth at all, mainly because every single organic race would have the same reaction.

Rogue AI robots are terrifying. They have no purpose for organics, and they can reproduce at the rate of bacteria.

I'm not saying a rogue AI will automatically turn on its creator, but if it felt any reason to, it would be exceedingly dangerous. 

A machine will only follow logic that can be mathematically calculated. If not attacking brings an outcome of "1", and attacking brings an outcome of "1.001", it's only logical for it to attack; it yields the greater outcome.
