Funny then how Legion says the Geth want peace, are you trying to say Legion is lying (even tho he has no reason to lie at all) and if you bring him to the Flotila he tells Korris it's poseable for peace. Korris says it the best.

Listen, no one else has spoken to legion but Shepard. The rest of the galaxy doesn't know the difference between heretics and regular geth

well hopefully they will do in ME3, we need shepard up on a huge ass screen adressing the council and telling them whats what, then telling them that if they don't do as he says he will get tali to repeatedly headbutt them in the face
:D

Look at it from her perspective, please.  If Legion transmits the data to the geth, and the geth attack the Flotilla in response, how many of her people die?  And not just loony or warlike admirals.  Quarians who don't want war will die.  Children who haven't even left their bubbles yet will die.  What sane person wouldn't try to stop that?

exactly

Thanks.  The lack of human empathy on this stuff around here sometimes confuses me...

Indeed.

There was a thread a couple months ago arguing that stopping the Collectors was pointless because they couldn't threaten Earth with just their one ship, so why bother with the plot of ME2.

Leaving aside the "well, don't play the game, then" argument, is anyone other than a poorly-socialised adolescent going to think that saving people is pointless?  That thread made me really sad.

And it's there fault. The Quarians should have contacted the Geth, not wander around and then declare war.

You know, the Council tried to contact the geth a few times. They sent peaceful ambassadors to geth space in fact.

They were killed every single time.

Proof? Because from what I have seen, the council decided to get ready for a war that never happen and banned from the Quarians. The point that Saren was able to enter the vail and live, and most likely Batarians too since it was a Bartarian who knew about Nazzara.

Doesn't anyone remember that the council sent peaceful ambassadors to the veil and they were all killed?

Here are facts gathered from the game:

-The quarians are very split on the prospect of war, but they all generally agree on being on the homeworld again.

-The geth are open to peace, but they are uneasy about how often the quarians try to retake the homeworld in a fight.

-Legion is the very first contact the geth have with any other race, and the geth are using Legion as a way to communicate with Shepard

-The quarians and for that matter everyone else have no idea what the geth are up to.

-The geth have only just now began to set out for contact.

I think they contacted Shepard to protect themselves from the reapers and not to promote peace.

Does anyone have proof from a codex or a conversation to prove that?

Because a race of alien slaves to Space-Robot-Cthulhu running around liquifying people doesn't require retribution, apparently.

Thats racism right there. The whole point of Legion was to make contact with other races.

Let me restate that in a much simpler form:

The geth and the quarians really have no idea what each other are doing until Shepard and Legion met. Neither side trust each other even though they are fully capable of negotiating peace just as likely as they ae ready for an attack.

The confrontation between Tali and Legion is a metaphor for that very thing.

Huh. Odd that my discussion with Collider would catch on now of all times. Glad to see we're not trolling.

I'll go ahead and repost my last bit from last night, with a few edits.

I found it odd myself. When someone started talking about it, I referred to page 1957 where you and Collider were talking. Was a good conversation. Can you imagine that kind of discussion between more than 6 or 8 people along with the normal spam that goes on? :P I would probably have an epileptic seizure.

I posted something to that effect and all I got was "but they can't win, so it doesn't matter."  My "it matters to the people who are going to become slushies" argument didn't have much impact.

Not at all, but they need to make peace and if there is not peace option and I have to pick a side, I am picking the Geth. The Geth where wronged more then the Quarians where.

Whenever I see someone express this view, I automatically know I can't really take their point seriously on the subject, and I'll demonstrate why:

Someone puts a geth in front of you, and a (suitless) quarian. They give you a gun, and they tell you must shoot one. The geth's memories will not be backed up.

You look at the geth. He looks back at you, his optic glowing brightly, showing zero emotion or fear or appreciation for his life. Maybe he makes a few clicking sounds.

Then you look at the quarian. Her face is painted with terror, her breathing is loud and completely unsteady. Her eyes are wet with infant tears. She's trembling in fear.

If you tell me you'd rather shoot the quarian than the geth, you're either a liar or not entirely sane. :P
