First off, let me establish that I do not believe quarian eyes glow naturally, for there would be little reason for that.  Bioluminesense generally developes in animals without usual access to sunlight.  The quarians have always had such access.

Instead, I believe the quarians have a tapetum lucidum, or a layer of cells directly behind the retina that reflects incoming light.  Cats are an earthly example of this feature.  The reason they have a constant "glow" results from the heads-up displays the quarians have within their masks, as seen when Tali's drops to the floor before... engaging Shepard.  This light, from these displays, reflects off their tapetum lucidum, creating a permanent "cat's eye" look. 

Some may bring up that a cat's reflective properties are very distinct, while quarians have a "hazy eye", in that they seem to emanate from a central location, instead of reflecting back light equally across their entire surface, as my hypothesis would lead you to believe.  I reply that the inherent murkiness of the gases they breath (if this murkiness is intentional or not is open to debate) causes the light to distort, resulting in, and enhancing, the idea that their eyes "glow".

Look man you brought it up then tried to argue with us about whether the Quarians had a large population. A multi-planet species has a large population, not many are left. The fleet has maintained 0% population growth, population growth owrks both ways, as Tali says in Mass Effect 1 their numbers must stay exactly at 17 million.

So the math is good so what exactly are you trying to argue here?

That just makes her seem that much more exotic I heard the cat reflective eyes idea before, just not explained in this entirety. I like it. It's another aspect that gives her some expression when her helmet is on from a gaming perspective, and also can be reasonably explained the way sci-fi does best , making her seem more alien while having humanlike features. I'd like to see the "hair or no hair" argument but maybe I'm being rude now

I just have it because it's a nice fanart. (ps, this version has no glowing - there's like 5 different ones out there)

Just using it as an example, not as an attack against it (even if it is too boyish for my likes ).

Agree with everything except gas behind maks. Quarians obviously breath something similar to the atmosphere on Earth, or else Tali would have had trouble in Shepard's cabin before the suicide run. The only reason for it to be there in my mind is to conceal their faces. i.e showing your face in public is taboo in quarian society.

I believe that bit was poorly worded.  When I say gas, I do not mean they breath something altogether different from humans.  The nitrogen-oxygen mixture we breath is a gas (and is what I think the quarians use).

Or the "tinted" visor theory. It's colored on the outside but they can see clearly from the inside.

This argument is flawed to begin with...genocide does not mean a certain number must be dead.
Read the wikipedia article.  Killing a "substantial" part of the group is genocide.
What the geth did was super-genocide.

Cow, technically, have a Choroidal tapetum fibrosum The tapetum is an array of extracellular fibers, instead of a layer of cells.
