Helping out Liara is marked as a Mission, not an Assignment. It seems reasonable enough to assume that Missions are more plot relevant than Assignments, I would guess not helping Liara can lead to disaster for her.

Most likely an expansion. SB is too importent to be a 1 to 2 hour DLC. SB is one of the biggest intrest in the ME universe.

But of course, it's possible that the whole SB sub-plot may wait until ME3.

I agree, cameos for Tali and Garrus would suck and I'd consider not buying the game. The Reapers are very boring as enemies.

What I envision for ME3 is that certain plotlines are flavored depending on who is alive. Tali and Legion would influence the Quarian-Geth plot. Garrus may have something to do with mercenaries. At least the very least, we should get something like ME1 where squad mates comment on a few things during missions but have full fledged conversations and romances on the Normandy.

Yeah, it's not the storyline from ME that keeps me playing (honestly I find it a bit bland. Not bad, just. . .'meh'.) It's the characters I love. Tali, Garrus, Mordin, Thane, Legion, etc. It's the people that I'm more interested in than the plot.
If they get rid of my favorite character then. . .this really becomes no more than a one time rental for me.

I dunno. I feel like you're probably right, but I keep going back and forth on how sure I am we'll have Tali and Garrus back. (I've come to the point where I demand both. I need my quarian girl and turian my bro)

@Canned, agreed. I'd probably rent the game but not purchase it. The universe is interesting, but the Reapers aren't. It's funny how I can go into ME1 without knowing anything other than it's science fiction and you have dialogue choices (the latter of which is why I bought the game in the first place), yet I won't buy ME3 if the characters don't return in a way that does them justice. But if you look at ME2's ending, they hardly look like they're going to just run away. speaking of which, Tali never appears in the ending for me, wtf

Btw, if anyone has a video where Tali looks at Shepard in the ending, I'd like to see that.

Nah, we need some sub plots done before ME3. If ME3 has too many sub plots, then the main plot will be rushed.

I never got that dialog. I figure I probably have to start a new game with Kasumi there pre-collector base, but I don't know when I'll do that.
