Just talk to Kelly after picking up Tali on Haestrom, and you'll see.

Didn't they have mass effect technology for over a millenium prior to the geth uprising?  That means lots of advanced technology, and a population in the billions.  I imagine there was quite a lot of advanced architecture.

Quarian first contact with galactic society was 1AD.

When this is taken into account, it is quite ***** that the Council just casted Quarians aside after the Geth uprising.

The council is all politics.  Its a scum bag move sure, but the quarians after the geth uprising are 20 million max.  They're useless to the galaxy, and are a detriment to everyone else when you look at how they deplete resources and contribute nothing.  Its not surprising they were cast aside, and opressed.

What would the motivation be for helping them?  Kindness of the council's heart?  Not happening in the real world

It makes perfect sense:

1. They uphold their law forbidding AI development by punishing the quarians.
2. They don't have to do anything about the geth, since it's a quarian issue, and the quarians are out.
3. The quarians have only a few million people left, so they can't do anything about it.

The Council are a. lazy, and b. politicians.  When you remember those two things about them, everything they do makes perfect sense.

Better evidence is what Kasumi has to say about Tali.

The quarians thought about going to Ilos and colonize it. They just didn't feel welcome there in some strange way.

Maybe it's all the creepy Prothean statues.

I see them at least pitching in some help in ME3. Far from useless.

It always hurts to remember. And also: Quarians recived fame as thieves and vagrants after their exile from Rannoch, that is definetly a sad fate.

The message that we get from the game is that the quarian immune system is weak, but adaptable.  If they live on a planet, pretty soon, they will be just fine.  The game gives us a time frame of 60 years.  Frankly, I think that's BS.  They were fully adapted a very short time ago, and that would have to still be somewhere in their genes.  The environment wouldn't be safe for them initially, but given a short time to acclimatize, I see no reason that the quarians couldn't get back to pre-geth status sooner rather than later.

As for the geth screwing things up, I doubt that.  They have no motivation to do that.

I think that time frame was just a speculation. Tali can't know what the geth have done to Rannoch in the meantime.

I think its more that Tali has no advanced knowledge of genetics or science in general.  She had a military upbringing.  She likely only has a high school level knowledge of science.  The situation in general is a mystery to quarians as well.  They have no idea how their immune systems will respond to this as its happening.

i think she actually have a good knowledge of science (not genetics ofc :P) as is leading the scientific expedition to study the dying sun... still a think is something that quarians generally know, to reclaim their homeworld is an hot topic for them and i bet there are a lot of debates and simulations about the war and recolonization of their homeworld

so yup she will not know these info because of her studies but i'm inclined to think that quarian scientists studied this topic a lot and info are public

Sure, we know that.  What does a potential ally against a make believe race of killer sentient machines mean to the council though?

I don't mean the quarians are useless, that's just the galaxy's perspective.

Most of the Councils are scum, we can agree on that, but Council should learn that putting a problem aside doesn`t solve it. Quarians still have the largest Fleet in the Galaxy, that is something.

That's actually a good point:  galactic opinion on the quarians flipped real fast.  I mean, 300 years is well within the lifetime of an asari or a krogan, and only a couple generations to a turian.

Whether she has the knowledge or not, I don't think Haestrom is a good indicator.  They were going to get info, for scientists to study it.  Tali was never going to be the one breaking down the data.  She was leading a strike team, it was her and a bunch of Kal'Reegers.

And I'm sure the info is made available, I just think it would be a lot like advanced science today.  Sure you can go out and learn about it on your own, but if your focus from childhood is on another proffession, you probably won't be qualified to give a solid opinion on the subject.

And I'm sure they focus on it a lot as a race, but I still doubt that they could come to a definitive conclusion about how long it would take, and the information is only diluted farther as it trickles down from the top to others.

I still think the slam Kasumi gave you for the Miranda relationship was hilarious.

I'm also still stunned that I never saw a RAGE over it
