There's a few reasons.  People who find Tali's qualities attractive seem likely to find Miranda repulsive by contrast, as opposed to just uninteresting.  Miranda's romance is a direct attack on Tali, and that transfers to the fans.  People want to hate in general.  Stuff like that.

I do wish we could keep it underwraps until an actual discussion topic on her pops up, but I'm not surprised that a lot of people here don't like her.

Well, since it works with any female character (even Jack, though the advertisement doesn't know what to call her) it would be cool to hear any of them respond.  Especially if you're in a romance with someone else.

Whether she has the knowledge or not, I don't think Haestrom is a good indicator.  They were going to get info, for scientists to study it.  Tali was never going to be the one breaking down the data.  She was leading a strike team, it was her and a bunch of Kal'Reegers.

And I'm sure the info is made available, I just think it would be a lot like advanced science today.  Sure you can go out and learn about it on your own, but if your focus from childhood is on another proffession, you probably won't be qualified to give a solid opinion on the subject. 

And I'm sure they focus on it a lot as a race, but I still doubt that they could come to a definitive conclusion about how long it would take, and the information is only diluted farther as it trickles down from the top to others.

she was leading a scientific team, not just a strike one, it seemed to me that Kal'Reegar was leading the military squad (as he refers to them as his men) while Tali was in charge of the expedition (scientific part included)

about the definitive conclusion of course, but for a thing so huge for them i suppose there is a lot of study, expecially if you are about to go to war to reclaim your planet... you cant really conquer it and have not any ideas (so any plan/procedure) to colonize it...

Mmm, I dunno, I kinda like Miranda. 

Obviously, I like Tali orders of magnitude multiplied by the oroborus even more... but Miranda is not half bad.

i dont follow other thread that much, but sometimes peeked in them... for the few things i saw there where no hate vs Tali, on counter Miri fans looked quite friendly

Sorta?  Somebody out there has BW accounts in all the Normandy crew's names, and they've been posting lulzy stuff.  During one of these things, somehow rape got brought up and GuardianAngel470 (or whatever his name is) totally went off.  He later posted this thread-buster of a rant about it with a bunch of stuff about his past, and then "Thane" quoted the whole thing.
