No, weird is peering over the edge of the bed at their peacefully sleeping form and staring.  Just... staring...

Sleep well.

Not as weird as talking about Tali in your sleep very loudly so that everyone in my house can hear me talk about how much I love her and all of the dirty things I want to do to her.

Took some explaining I can tell you...

*quarian facepalm*

Aww... You act like acting out fantasys with fictional character in your sleep is a bad thing.

Last night I dreamt that a bunch of rats took over my house, and then once I learned of their plights, I helped them making enough money, by throwing a sort of backyard circus, so they could buy a house in mexico...

...I don't really have such loevly dreams, and luckily I don't talk in my sleep.

We've talked a lot about origins, but what about backgrounds? Seems to me Sole survivors got it easy there, since by their nature they'd be looking for a new team to cling to. But Ruthless types? Yikes.

Actually, I like the ruthless types, you just have to be creative about it.

They've seen some ****, willing to do the horrible things they have to in order to get the job done and secure humanity's rights to colonize the traverse. They're cold and detatched, but utterly alone because of it. So when they meet Tali, they meet someone who is more altruistic and compassionate. It's like a healing damaged good scenario.

Yeah, my Cannon Shepard, who happens to be a Renegon, is a Ruthless Colonist.
For RP reasons, I'm only Paragon when Tali is around... :?:P

It's just a little minific I whipped up one day, I'll dig it up:

------------

--On the human colony of Mindoir, many years ago--

Pregnant Quarian: I can't thank you enough for giving me this shuttle to return to the Fleet. I still can't believe my escape pod got so separated from them during that pirate attack.

Human Woman: Hey, I had to help. I know what it's like to be an expecting mother. *She smiles, and proudly looks down at her seven year old son*

Young boy: Are you going to a space ship? Out there? *Points at the sky*

Pregnant Quarian: Yes child, I'm going to the ship my husband is stationed on. It's called the Rayya.

Human Woman: Good luck, and congratulations again on your upcoming daughter.

Pregnant Quarian: Thank you once more, Miss Shepard. Keelah Se'lai.

*The Pregnant Quarian gets on the shuttle and leaves. The human woman and her seven year old son precede to go back into their home*

But she's got to cope with the ugliness, too.

Which is why it's romantic. It's easy to love someone when they're kind and charming and nice, but it's hard when they've done horrible things. To be willing to overcome that and help that person is... poetic to me.

Alright folks, my brain is apparently dead so I can't come up with a viable location for my "interview" scene. Maybe I'll come up with something after a good night's rest. If any of you have a suggestion, PM me!

Night, folks.

I thought about writing a followup minific to that, in which they visit during the period of time between the attack on the colony, and Shepard getting picked up by the Alliance scouts; so he'd be by himself as a 16 year old. Tali would be 9 years old during it, and I guess in some kind of temporary child-suit.

Although it's pretty unlikely quarians would take their kids out of the Flotilla for any reason.

This is TALI we're talking about here! Logic be damned!

My Talimancing Shepard is a spacer, appropriately enough, although that was entirely accidental. I guess he kind of understands the whole "living on a ship" sort of thing.

May not be a bad idea, will consider it (and go take another look at it tomorrow).

I think it's enough that both Shepard and Tali are so physically alien to each other. Tali being so compassionate to Shepard is what makes her seem so human.

Well, I figure maybe she like, sneaked unto the shuttle or something.

I really like the whole "they've 'met' before and never realized it" concept, but it's so easy to stretch suspension of disbelief with the concept in regards to Shep/Tali.

That too. Same thing with Garrus. It's the fact that you have t o work at the relationship that makes it so worthwhile.

See, you can come up with a good reason for any of the background choices.

Only used ruthless for my ME1 renegade Shep and never used war hero. That seemed to make Shepard 'too perfect' you know? I wanted my Shep to have some old problems and ****-ups.

I always gave him a scar down the side of his face and liked to pretend that it was from the thresher maw attack that killed his crew; a little reminder of his past mistakes forever etched into his skin. . .until Miranda showed up and took the scars away and replaced with with creepy glowing ones.

. . .****. <_<

I LIKE Tali that she's never done anything horrific. Or if you're talking about Shepard, mine is Paragade. The romance has plenty complications...but they still love each other and be with each other. That's plenty romantic.
