Why wouldn't it? I mean, sure, hair doesn't grow at the same speed for all species, but I see no reason to imagine it would grow considerably slower, particularly since we all seem agreed that quarian metabolisms run at about the same speed as those of humans. If their hair did grow significantly slower, one would have to wonder - what's the point of having it at all?

As Sergio said, it could be a way for plants to spread their pollen around since there is no incect life.

I'm still not very comfortable with the idea of quarians having hair. It just doesn't seem right to me.

On the subject of hair, Tali appears to have eyebrows if you look closely at her face mask, and Tali's concept art has her with eyebrows, as well as grey skin. Though that may be just because it's concept.

I should have been more clear. I meant natural facial markings, from biology it self. I think it would be quite beautiful conceptually speaking that each Quarian has unique patterns on their face. This has special significance - Tali is the only one she loves enough to show her face to. He's the only one who will see her face, unique as it is.

I actually figured that was what you were getting at.  My reasoning is kinda meta-.  For one thing, that would be a detail the game would probably have let us know about.

What kind of body markings are we talking? Turian-esque face paint? Or something a bit different, like ritual scarring?

Or maybe I'm misinterpreting this and you meant natural body markings.

Natural. Just as there are natural patterns on butterflies, for instance.

Huh. That would be unique and it would set them apart from the other species, although I've noticed a few patterns on asari faces, though they seem to be fairly generic and not every individual asari has them.

That, combined with alien "ears," possibly a little recoloring, and a few other unusual features would probably be alien enough for me. I'm thinking quarians should be somewhere between turians and drell in their alien-ness, probably leaning slightly towards drell since they seem the more mammalian of the two (even if they're really reptilian).

I hesitate to take that concept art as proof of anything.  Since it gets her feet wrong.

See, that's what I think. And if those are eyebrows, then why would there not be hair?
It's like a 'where there's smoke, there's fire' kinda thing, I feel.

Really? We're never told in-game what Quarian faces look like. You can tell they have eyes and a nose, and you can tell they have lips from the kissing sounds in Tali's romance. That's all, really. Ascension gave us a few more details.

The art book clearly stated the face in the drawing was just a placeholder.

Also; eyebrows and eyelashes do not apply as hair. Really.

Because somebody who shaves / cuts their hair short doesn't necessarily shave their eyebrows?

Right, we weren't told about such an important feature in the game or in Ascension.  That's my point.

Ascension also confirmed lips.

I hate when people try to point to the romance scene as evidence... for all you know it was sounds made from Shep kissing her skin... Hardly conclusive, not that I disagree, just silly to list as proof.

I know, it's not proof, in that it does not prove it. Just hinting towards it. If I had to say either way, however, I'd say Quarians have hair or at least eyebrows based upon what I've seen.

Someone else in the galaxy has to have hair, damnit! (No, Batarians don't count).

Hair (on the top of the head) just plain makes sense for a humanoid creature.

See, a head needs heat. Heat gets generated primarily by skeletal muscle. The head doesn't have much muscle, so it has to have heat transferred to it via blood.

Now, without some kind of insulation on one's head, there is massive amount of heat loss from the head--it's inefficient and a waste of energy. It's why wearing a hat is one one of the best things you can do in cold weather--otherwise you lose a lot of body heat.

In other words, not having hair is a pretty big biological disadvantage. Then again, no one else seems to have hair in the galaxy... :?

This is one of the reason why I'm actually against seeing Tali's face. There are so many different ideas of beauty and I think one of the reasons Tali is so popular is because everyone can put their own image of how she looks into their heads.
If BioWare showed her face, it's going to upset a lot of people no matter what they do. It's kinda a lose/lose situation no matter what.
At the same time, I feel like in ME2 they 'built up' the idea that you're going to see Tali far too much so, when the love scene happens, you feel disappointed.
"Naw, bro", indeed.

Like I said to nuclearbuddha, I just think it appears that they do, not that I believe they do.

Asari don't have hair and they are the closest to humans as any other race.
