I think he has emotions, he just doesn't know what to do with him. Like his obsession with Shepard, or why he's seems upset about the Heretics spying on the true geth. There's other instances, but I'm not going to list them all.
It is a machine.
Your argument is invalid.
Delurking for a moment before diving back into the ether.
Every living organism is technically a machine. Mordin draws a baseline where anything capable of doing calculus on its own deserves at least some form of respect, while the real question still remains, just what is a sentient being? Or perhaps more importantly, what is a soul and do we submit that every sentient being has one. When you think about it, the only difference between the Geth and organics is one's sentience is based on a bio-chemical brain while the other mechanical. Its a repeat of the logic where 2 is less then 3 while 4 is less then 5.
Before anyone throws in the argument that the geth are "programmed" thus they follow strict patterns, so are we organics through our genome. We *are* programmed to do certain things, albeit with enough deviations to the "core" programing to keep things pretty interesting.

Anyways, here's where a paragon / renegade divide comes in.
Do you believe that the Geth can posses souls? A Pure Paragon would embrace the thought, while the Pure Renegade would spit on the idea. As a Paragade, I'd want to believe it but won't hold my breath while as a Renegon, as long as they point a gun at me, I don't really care, and kill them as I'd would with any other soulless machines, at least until proven otherwise.
Legion is interesting though. Just how much of an individuality it has developed while looking for Shepard and later in Shepard's company remains to be seen. More to the point, will it realise its value.
Trust Bioware to put something so deep and philosophical in an "action" game. No?
