This sounds completely absurd.

Awesome, but absurd.

The show consists of bad reenactment, along with overweight "experts" wanking over their favorite overrated warriors.

Sounds... lovely.

Now, why aren't we discussing Tali?

As a biologist, gotta say the Quarians are a total evolutionary failure. An immune system that defective would never occur in a living species.

I let that little nit go for the sake of the game though.

I'm not so sure. The fact that they adapted weak immune systems is somewhat genious on their homeworld that is. The presence of beneficial viruses and bacteria is really interesting, and the fact that the Quarians adapted to accept these but still keep out dangerous ones is pretty amazing.

Also can't wait for Seals vs Israeli Commandos

Actually, at the time point of this story, modifying immune systems would be child's play, regardless of species. Same thing holds for "fixing" the genophage, increasing lifespan of Salarians, etc.

What?

That doesn't even make sense!

half of those match ups make no sense. I mean really? Ninja vs. Spartan? wtf?

Yeah but the Green Beret vs Spetznaz was plausible though
Spetznaz won as well by the way

I have defeated the legions of spiders besieging my home
It turns out small spiders make my roommate scream like a four year old as well
Also GSG9 would realistically defeat SWAT, not the other way around (bonus points if you figure out what show that's from)
Anyways what did I miss?

Hey, it's the spider guy!

My reputation with spiders proceeds me I see

what if we never see Tali's face? I mean....if she takes off the helmet she dies unless taking heavy doses of meds beforehand

She took it off once before.  It only gets easier and safer from there.  No reason she can't take it off again.

Plus, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm getting her planet back, and her immune system will be fixed by the end of ME3 B)

Her immune system getting fixed? Tali said it will take generations before it's truly safe for Quarians to be on Rannoch without their suits.

@Face: I'll be disappointed if I don't see her face in ME3, since that's our last chance, but that's all I'll be.

I'm not willing to take the words of a hysterical soldier as fact in regards to quarians reacclimating to their homeworld.  Combination of me personally not wanting it to take that long, and that it just doesn't make sense when you apply most science.  I expect it to take a significantly shorter amount of time than Tali says, and maybe less with specific genetic stuff to strengthen her immune system that could be done.

Also, there's a difference between being completely safe, and being safe enough.  I don't think the latter is nearly as hard to reach.

Reposting, with the follow-up since people didn't like it ending on a low note. :P

---------------

-Shepard and Tali's first fight-

Tali: Why don't you ever go dancing with me!?

Shepard: I have a good reason not to, alright? Just drop it!

Tali: It's because I'm a quarian isn't it? You don't want to be seen dancing with me!

Shepard: That's NOT it! How can you even think that?!

Tali: Well it's the only reason I can think of, you're certainly not telling me anything!

Shepard: Why don't you just trust me on this?!

Tali: Why don't you trust me enough to tell me?!

*Shepard flashes back to Samara's loyalty mission, to his dancing in Afterlife. Then he imagines dancing with Tali, her horrified with his dancing, and leaving him*

Shepard: No! I... just can't tell you!

Tali: FINE! I'm sleeping in engineering tonight!

Shepard: FINE!

--------------

-Later that night, Shepard heads down to engineering. He sees Tali still working on her terminal; she's obviously just keeping herself distracted-

Shepard: I can't dance.

*Tali turns around*

Shepard: My dancing... it's just terrible. I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier. It's just... I'm not use to being so... bad at something. But, I'm sorry I yelled at you, and that I didn't tell you the truth.

*Tali approaches him and puts her arms around him*

Tali: I'm sorry too.. what I said about me being a quarian... that was uncalled for; it was a terrible thing to say to you. I'm sorry, Shepard...

Shepard:  I know you didn't mean it, Tali.. How about we just go to our room and forget about this?

Tali: I'd like that..

If that were possible, Quarians would have started doing it in the 300 years since losing their world...

She may get more and more conditioned to Shepard's presence... But she will never have a decent immune system

The quarians didn't have Shep on their team for the last 300 years.  Isn't that all that you need? :?

" The presence of beneficial viruses and bacteria is really interesting, and the fact that the Quarians adapted to accept these but still keep out dangerous ones is pretty amazing."

But this describes humans and every other vertebrate on earth. Your own DNA is riddled with ancient retrovirus remnants (some of the still produce virus-like particles and seem to play important biological roles). Your skin, your gut, is filled with beneficial bacteria that are absolutely essential for your good health (and digestion).
