Actually, I don't think he was really gunning for Tali.  She was an extremely unfortunate casuality caught in a political crossfire.  Korris may be a bastard for attempting to throw her to the wolves in a political move, but it wasn't out of malice.  A charge of Treason was the only way to get Tali, probably the one Quarian that could stand in his way, out of his way.

Remember, all the admirals were trying to use Tali in one form or another.  Kal'Korris wanted to make an example out of her, and use her to send a message "that needs to be sent" as he put it.  Han'Garel was fully willing to sacrifice Tali to the geth on the Alarei to get ahold of Raels data or see her exiled to have a bloody shirt to wave around and rally people to his cause.  Beloved "Auntie Raan" wanted to use Tali to force the issue between Korris and Garel, and was willing to see Tali's life destroyed to end the political crisis.

The only Admiral that didn't have it in for Tali in the trial was Daro'Xen, who thought that Tali had either been crimminally negligent, and therefore worthy of exile, or simply only on the edges of a ****up of titanic proportions, guilty of no more than carrying out the ligitimate and perfectly safe requests of her father; for which at most, she'd suffer a loss of face and perhaps pull some truly **** duty for a while.

That Xen was willing to capitalize on the crisis has nothing to do with Tali or the trial at all.  All in all, she was the only Admiral in that room that deserved to be on that board.

After all, if you call the baord out, Daro'Xen is the only one spared Shepards fury.  She had a personal interest in the trial's aftermath, not the trial itself.

Truth. Words cannot describe how outraged I was at the Admiralty. But, I upper-left-blue'd because I needed to help Tali and insulting the Admirals didn't seem like it would help her case.
In my opinion, the renegade speech was far too tame. I may have very well have shot a bullet or two into the air for effect, while telling the board to go get AIDS and die. Lazy, ignorant jackasses.

Two things you don't mess with.

My turian.
I agree.

But something Tali had said to me a long time ago suddenly came back to me when I had considered rallying the crowd against the admirals.

"I can never abandon my people, Shepard."

I was representing Tali. Anything I did would reflect on her for the rest of her life aboard the Flotilla. A personal attack on the Admiralty would not help Tali. I had to think clearly and rationaly.

But I wanted to kick the **** out of them.
I hear you.

Still. Someone needed to cut a hole in Korris's suit.

Then kick him out the nearest air lock.

If you do get Tali exiled; the Admirals actually feel very guilty that Tali was dragged into the whole mess. Each wanted to use her trial to further their own political agenda, and as you said- none have any malice towards her. It's not until it does happen that the Admirals realize how exiling Tali was a huge mistake. Tali has had enough of it though and pretty much gives them a big "**** you!" herself.

I don't care. The admirals can do whatever the hell they want with their politics and research.

But the second they brought MY crewmate into it, and began using her for their bull****, despite the INSANE things she has done for the, taken bullets, fighting geth, recovering data about ****ing stars, they crossed a line.

A line that when crossed, should result in a heavily armored, five toed boot being shoved up someones ass.

I've got a feeling that the verdict is born from secret votes cast by the Admirals, with Korris and Garel both sttempting to call the others bluff in exiling a freaking national hero, and Xen being the one cast against them, since there really no evidence at all that even gets in the same spacial quadrant needed to implicate Tali in anything but being too naive about what her dad was doing.

And since Garel and Korris are too busy having a political pissing contest, Tali gets screwed over.

That's exactly why it's tragic. Political ****storm sweeps Tali up, she is indirectly responsible for her fathers death, and her own leaders are selling her out to prove a point to each other.

Mental stability has never been a requirement for either high military rank or political office, sadly.

And Xen's plans were doomed to failure anyway.  She'd have had to be deaf, dumb and blind to not figure that out after an attempt.  Hell, if Legion is there to meet her, it flat out tellsn her that.  She'd cause some damage, but nowhere near the almighty cluster**** Korris, or -dear god- Garel had planned.

And Shall'Raan had no business being anywhere but the freaking peanut gallery in the bleachers for the trial. Way too many personal connections.  If there's not another admiral (and with a fleet that size, I'd call total BS on that) then have her designate either her XO or another officer from the Tonbay that has no connection to Tali or her family to stand in Raan's place.

A responsible Fleet Officer would have done so.

Still, that's manipulative, cruel, and NOT something I'd expect "family" to do, which is what Raan is to Tali, being her "Aunt."

The fact that Raan had to resort to that makes me sick. The fact that she did it makes me even sicker.
