So,
I just read cannedcream's fanfics...both of them in fact, and I felt
compelled to post.

It has occured to me that while I have
lurked this thread for a while, after reading those fictions, it was
amazing the amount of pain my soul felt, and with that I have come to a
realization, and I'm gonna use some Grunt.  I AM TALIMANCER! Not duck,
talimancer lol. How could you make Tali hurt cannedcream?  WHY!?  Good
stories, though!

Her's to keeping Tali Alive![smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

Welcome
aboard, everyone has their moment when they realize that they are a
talimancer. Mine was when I finished the suicide mission and Tali hauled
my sorry arse onto the normandy after I had just saved her.

I
just sat there staring at the screen.

A fan
fiction madeyou realize you were a Talimancer? Never considered that
possibility. I was convinced when Tali...uhh...nvm.

Tali didn't really seem like a heroine during her trial.  At least half of the crowd was just fine with declaring her a traitor with no evidence.  She also would have died a hero (if it was possible for her to be killed.)  It isn't like Shepard killed her randomly.

And as much as I like Tali, she really isn't hugely important to the quarians reclaiming the homeworld.  Shepard and Legion are the key people.  Legion is the portal into the geth viewpoint, and Shepard can converse with/boss around the admirals without Tali.  Tali didn't really add much during her trial.

It really is upsetting how much Tali gets used, lied to, manipulated, and looked down upon.
She's an incredibly sweet, kind, and optimistic girl who only wants what's best for everyone around her. She can't help the family and race she was born into, yet she's constantly being punished for it.

Gah! Why is it that Shepard is the only person that understands how amazing she is?

Tali's loyalty mission. Is she ever happy until the end when all is well again? She's speaking in either anger, self defense, sadness at her dad's death, guilt, I mean...the whole mission is just :crying:

I think its a human freighter.

The reason the Quarians have those ships is that they bought them from humans.

When I say a replacement NPC I mean in the same vein as Urdnot Wreav. Basically someone else to take the reigns, but is not recruitable in the least. Of course that would be assuming that Tali even really has a position to begin with. She could easily just help Shepard in convincing the Quarians, or whatever the subplot is, against the Reapers.

I have never killed Wrex in any of my games, so I really have no firsthand knowledge about what Reave does. But the fact that she changes her name and romancing her really strenghtens her chances of being recruitable in ME3. To downplay a character like that does seems off in many senses.

On the subject of the name change:  That was one of the things that really brought home the romance to me.  Sure, that's how the Flotilla addresses her after the trial.  But then I noticed that even within the game (elevator text and such) her name had changed.  It was a nice detail.

Invoking metagaming knowledge though, would Bioware really make it impossible to convince the admirals without Tali?  We would most likely just get a persuasion check or something.

You are correct, they wouldn't. I really meant in the context of the story. You may likely be able to sway the admirals regardless, but Tali may "help" by simply speaking in favor, or pass negating the requirements of a persuasion check.

Shepard should have enough weight at this point to convince the admirals of whatever.  They may be outsiders, but they are very familiar to the quarians for outsiders.  If they could provide a way for the quarians to reclaim their homeworld, I can't see them denying it because Shep isn't a quarian.

I can completely see them, in terms of story, maybe not metagame, rejecting Shepard saying that he helped Legion defeat the heretic geth. That is just simply something hard to swallow for a race who has only known Geth aggression. Not to mention they will suspect that Legion is lying. But if Tali, a quarian and somewhat of a heroine, were to vouch for Shepard, some of the Admirals may come to consider Shepard's words more.

I have a feeling that giving TIM the Collector Base will end up in half your squad dying at the beginning of ME3.

Funny, thats pretty much the paragon decision that I see as having the largest negative consequences.  Say what you want about TIM and his evilness, but he needs the reapers defeated as much as you.  He won't be a hindrance to start ME3.

The Cerberus threat is later, for now, they should be a solid ally.

Well, I'll just have to use two different playthroughs and find out.

That's the beauty of the ME games.
You really can't tell what's gonna happen in ME3, and what snowball effect you'll see from your actions in ME1 and 2  creating interesting things in ME3.

Me, I have a few "cannon" characters that I'll save for ME3 ...play through it without visting the forums or any "news" site so that the experience for them will be "fresh" Of course playing the "key" save first.
Then, replaying ME1, 2 and then 3 in a huge marathon playthrough to get the "best" results that you want.

The fact that she doesn't let that crap change what a wonderful person she is is a testament to her character

Its sad that she has to go through that, but at least now she has Shepard as a constant to make things better

AND THE HUGS! Don't forget the hugs!

Whoever put that Interupt in the game deserves a pay raise, a vacation, and all expense paid night out on the town in Las Vegas.

No

That is definitely a quarian ship, look at the screen shots of the migrant fleet, that is a quarian ship

Quarian ship.

These are the ones when you blow up the Collector Base.

Tali is like the most famous Quarian in the galaxy.

You know how there's been like a million articles and documentaries in regards to 9-11? Within the ME universe, the Citadel getting attacked would be like a hundred times bigger news than that even.

Since Shepard and his crew played such a major role (hell, Shepard is referred to as the Hero of the Battle of the Citadel) would be in all these news articles and documentaries and all that. Tali would be mentioned in all of these things.

Hell, I bet she has her own in-depth page in Space-Wikipedia.

Agreed. Entire Galaxy familiar with original Mass Effect crew. Sadly. Destruction of Collector base not as public.

I agree that Tali would make the process go smoother, but I can't see its success hanging on whether she's there or not.

I think you should be able to do it either way, but if you want to get the full emotional impact, Tali would have to be there. If she's alive, she can express her gratitude for you helping get her world back, if you're in a relationship with her, maybe you can offer to build a house on her homeworld for both of you. If she's dead, you miss out on all of that. Similar to how you miss out on certain things by never activating Legion, you never discover why he has your armor, you never see him fight with Tali, and you can't take him to the Flotilla. Missed Emotional impact.

Agreed.  If ME2 made one thing clear, it was that major character decisions change the emotional impact and general awesomeness of the game.  Not the actual plot line itself.  Reclaiming the homeworld without Tali is an emotionless errand.  With her, its

Maybe they pick up garbage, sift through it for useful stuff, and then dump it back. :crying:

First of all; thank you for reading, paper. You are now officaly awesome.

Second: Welcome to the fold, brother.

Third: I only hurt because I care. The first story was me working out my guilt for getting Tali killed in my first playthough. The second story came to me after someone on here asked who they thought would try and hit on Tali if Shepard was killed. That got me thinking about what Tali would do if Shepard had really died after they became a couple. When I thought that she might just kill herself, I pictured her doing it in the most elegant way possible; thus the ending scene in 'Sensations'.

Due to demand as well as threats to my physical well-being, my next fic will be a happier one with a lighter tone.

Also, I don't want to be thought of as the guy who 'keeps writing depressing ****'. I would hate people to think that I'm just trying to play the same card over and over agian. :(

[/quote]

GAAAAH :crying: The man who orchestrated Tali's demise is speaking to me!

Seriously though, excellent stories, and thats what got me to realize I was a talimancer.  Just those stories provoked a strong reaction in me.

And thanks for the awesome achievement I just got lol.  Totally popped up on my HUD in RL lol

It was originally meant as an insult, too, to be associated with a human ship. Her loyalty is expressed quite well when she decided to keep it.
