I have 3dsmax 2009. When you extract the models with uModel and import using the ActorX importer, the models come pre-rigged. You can even apply the ingame animations.Kikaimegami wrote...

Export them directly from the game files?

Making their textures look equally good is another thing entirely. I've done some heavy modification to Tali and Shepard

*Shepard walks into engineering*
Shepard: Gabby, Ken... you're relieved of your engineering duties for the day. Go play Skyllian Five in the mess hall or something.
*Walks over to Tali*
Shepard: As for you miss vas Normandy... you're going to be here for a while...
Tali: That's alright... I like it here...

I don't suppose there's any way you could send your files to me? Or at least tell me how to do it, because I looked at uModel and had no idea what to do. Plus, I can't find an ActorX importer for Blender, just exporters.
And I'd be eternally grateful if you could give me Legions model and textures too
I can't import any 3ds files (sure, I have a script for it, but it never works). If you're willing to help a kikai out, I'll give you a list of the kinds of files I can import.

Agreed. Bear in mind that if you buy the PC version of Mass Effect 1 anywhere but via Steam that it will come with a version of SecuROM that installs hidden files to your PC's kernel. That game was released before EA seemed to learn from their DRM folly.
'Kay...
Now in dumb console gamer language.
In layman's terms: The official copy of the game installs malware behind your back on to your PC that's supposed to stop piracy (which it failed to do). This malware comes with limited activations which means that eventually you can end up with a legal copy of the game that can't run any longer. This has been partly dealt with by an activation reclaiming tool that you have to remember to use before uninstalling the game from your PC. The SecuROM in use has also been known to cause instability in the game for some users.
Personally I still refuse to buy the PC version of ME 1; the next time Steam has a discount sale on it I may buy it (I don't like Steam much either since it's just another form of digital rights management (aka. DRM).

Had to paint their textures 4x higher res than they were ingame. Yeah, bit of a touch up if you ask me.mikethor007 wrote...

So far as I know, unless Blender can import ActorX or .max files, you're going to have to rig them yourselfKikaimegami wrote...
I understand I'm asking a lot from you, and if you decline, that's fine. I got the obj and texture files, I just have to rig the meshes myself *headdesk*

Well, I can supposedly import .3ds but it's never really worked. I could try, though. I also have the import scripts for Half Life 2, if that helps at all (it probably doesn't).
What about COLLADA?

.3ds won't import a rig, and the import scripts for HL2 won't work either. And I have no idea what COLLADA isKikaimegami wrote...

That's odd. Do you have an option to export to COLLADA (.dae)?

Spiffy. I'll be happy to read your latest fanfic in a little while. Right now I'm putting the finishing touches on the YouTube releases of the latest two pieces of music I composed early this morning. I had been watching a Japanese anime and was falling asleep when suddenly inspiration struck, so I got back up out of bed at 3:34 A.M. to compose.
