Hm. I'm comfortably on the fence with this one. I agree with both points of view to an extent. Free exposure can be a boon as long as others aren't profiting from it without paying royalty fees, etc. On the other hand, one's work can also be misrepresented, placed out of context, or used in a manner that the creator of it may not agree with and which may affect the creator's reputation for better or worse without his/her express consent. That too is something that I personally think needs to be taken in to consideration as well.

I think his main upset was that his artwork has been posted here heavily modified... So he asked that one not be posted without his permission on his DA page... And when he came here and said so, Chool basically told him to F off... *Shrug*

I see no real problem of it being posted around so long as the original artist still recieves the credit they deserve. But it still is his work, and the respectful thing to do is to listen to how he wants it handled. I don't care if my work gets passed around as long as it's not used negatively.

The "crew" is over in that Legion thread.  Everyone from the Omega prophet to Saren.

Considering it's a political discussion they're having over there, I'm still saying it's not BW.  And if it is, they need to be more careful about what they get involved in.

Yeah, an artist should have a certain amount of control over what others do with his art, but he really shouldn't expect to have that kind of control when posting it on a public internet site. Having it spread among message boards and whatnot is just inevitable.

He can try and fight it, but it's futile; it'll just be him and his art who suffer (I remember he threatened to put a big watermark on his art from now on if his stuff spreads beyond his control, which I think is just a tragedy, since his stuff is really good)

You don't need to apologize Kikai, I just don't know what I can really do to get the rigs working in Blender.

If he is concerned about the context, he should perhaps avoid placing it where it can be misused.  I.e. the internet.

Possibly, yet if we take that argument a step further then all things in the physical world are best left locked up and out of sight of more or less everyone because they may be potentially abused and/or stolen. That is neither practical nor fair to the owners of whichever item/creation we are dealing with. People should be able to use and display things both in the physically tangible world and online and still have laws and rights protect them and their works IMO.

In the instance of this presumably younger fellow, he might have received a more favourable response if he had firmly yet politely asked to have his work removed from postings. He may also have overreacted, yet the fear/angst of others violating one's territory/property is one that I suspect is far from foreign to most of us.

But he is fully aware that no such laws/protections exist on the internet, and therefore should deal with that issue in a manner that satisfies himself before he shares.  Or doesn't share, as might be the case.

You don't need to apologize Kikai, I just don't know what I can really do to get the rigs working in Blender.  

There just doesn't seem to be any easy way whatsoever to port between the two. That's what COLLADA is supposed to be for, but I guess your version doesn't have it or something. Well, would you mind sending me the .max files? I'll see what I can do with them (if anything). Just Tali and Legion would be fine, but you can include whatever else you like.
