It's just my style of talking. I like to avoid making "absolute" statements as much as possible. 

Personally, I feel she's the best character in all entertainment mediums.

Glass is actually a very hard substance; it is however also brittle. Very few things can effectively cut glass (diamonds being one of the exceptions). Bludgeoning tools do an excellent job at shattering/breaking glass however.

seriously though, It does looke like glass so I guess It's certainly possible that it -could- be. In that case though it's wouldn't be the kind of glass we know but instead some kind of heavily reinforced super-glass (the kind that can only be created with insane amounts of incredibly impressive tech).

Though there's at least one instance of one of those visors being smashed to bits by a quarian in one of the novels, Ascension, i believe.

The visor isn't unbreakable. In fact, I'd say Tali survives more because her kinetic shields protect her, rather than the glass being unbreakable.

For the longest time, I thought those horizontal lines were just some glass-type texture.

But now I'm convinced that they're scan-lines. Her mask is some kind of transparent video-capable device.

It probably shows a "color accurate" video feed of whatever she's looking at, so she doesn't see everything as purple. In that picture, I assume that the "video feed" turned off since the mask got removed.

I will have to disagree with this statement due to the face that glass is used to test the... bah I cant remember the term we used in geology, but it was used and youd cut the surface of the glass with the material to try and find out what it as based on a scale of how easy it was to cut the glass... Hardness, that's it.

Well I'd think that there would be more danger of shattering the visor than of cutting it.
Therefore glass would not be a viable material to use.

There is no such thing as "100% risk free" in life.
