Yes, but s/he didn't get cortana tattooed on his chest or back. There's a difference between buying a statue and getting a permanent tattoo.Sensei Wuzi wrote...

I would say it is bad because, as a soldier, you are doing some of the things Shepard does. You and your squad are the heroes, deferring to a video game like that is just wrong. Idolizing something like that enough to get a tattoo of it on your chest is really, really nerdy. Other soldiers might pick up on it and mock you for it.Sensei Wuzi wrote...

I dont think the N7 is too bad though.GuardianAngel470 wrote...
Ok, but would you classify them as embarrassing? If not then it doesn't apply. Tyler wants to tattoo a fictional romance character and "N7" on his person. That can be classified as embarrassing because the average non-RPG gamer would mock him for it.Azint wrote...
No, I just have tattoos. Two of them are actually personal, one was for, to quote anaother character I like; "Hey, why the **** not?"GuardianAngel470 wrote...
Are you in the military? And what kind of embarrassing tattoos are we talking about?
I agree:D
lol. nearly every soldier i know is a avid gamer. One of them spent a hell lotta money on a Cortana statue
And avid gamer doesn't mean what it used to. I stepped into the gaming industry only about 4 years ago. First game I finished all the way was Halo 3. Being a gamer isn't the nerdy pass time it used to be.
And before you think I'm judging anyone (looking at you Azint) you should know I'm not. I've just been around people enough to realize it doesn't take much to make fun of someone.

I doubt they track things to that degree (although they could if they wanted to add the flags to the save file and keep track of them). However, I'd think the game has to save the progress level of each character's conversation tree or else it wouldn't be able to pick up from where you left off.Goat_Shepard wrote...

I presume they are collecting player metrics to help direct their development efforts. How popular a LI is can be judged by how many times a character is chosen across multiple playthroughs. To be fair this forum is a poor judge of what they can and can't make a profit from. We represent only the nerdiest portion of the userbase, the ones who spend hours talking about a fictional character and the science and politics of a fictional world.
My presumption is that they will use stats like these to give more attention (more dialog) to the most popular characters.
Bioware knows each dialogue choice I make? Weeeird.

I agree, I'm fine with her looking human-like. She's already pretty different with her amino-acid chirality, immune system issue, three digits, etc.
Besides, I think humans are hot.
I'd prefer a more alien Tali, although I suspect I'm in the minority. I'd like Tali to be physically unique, not just a quasi-human. Bioware doesn't seem to have a problem with designing characters which are alien, yet attractive.
Fair enough, its all personal preference really. For me, she's alien enough already. Especially if we add a different skin color, ears and eyes on top of the differences we already have.
What you're describing is fairly alien. I suspect that we don't differ on this issue by too much.

Let's take a look at Neytiri from Avatar for example (please, let's not debate the movie, I'm just using her as an example in design), and no, I'm not saying Tali should look like her, I'm using her as an example of how you can go for an alien-look, yet still keep it attractive.
Neytiri is very appealing physically to most people for a few reasons:
- Human-based face. Same structure as a human face, but with some obvious "tweaks". This is a requirement for a human to find something attractive (some exceptions of course, but it's basically true).
- Big eyes. People like big eyes. They're appealing, warm, comforting, and inspire feelings of trust. They communicate "innocence" too. Think of of puppies.
- Some animal features. The cat-like nose, the cute ears, bridged nose, etc.

Where did you get that quote? That was from like two days ago. And you took it out of context. I was responding to a post that said that because there has been support for a Romance DLC on the forums that that somehow made making a romance DLC profitable. I never said that there wasn't a way for them to discern that it would be profitable, just that looking on the forums wasn't it.
Anyway, I thought I was addressing your point - you're right that that forums aren't a good metric of a character's true popularity, but we know they are collecting some kind of player metrics and I was speculating how they could use them to make these kinds of decisions.
Back to praising Tali!
